Spring updates to CC Photography

The Photography team is proud to share the latest updates available to you in the Creative Cloud Photography. Starting with last year’s Lightroom mobile launch on iPad, we outlined a vision for a connected photographic workflow that allows you to create, access, organize, edit and share your photos from all of your devices. You provided lots of feedback on both the vision and our strategy and I’m happy to announce that we’ve made substantial improvements to Lightroom across all your devices that help you organize, edit, and share your photos in a fast, easy way with the highest quality.

Today we’re happy to announce a major update to Creative Cloud Photography, with a brand new version of Lightroom on the desktop and updates across all pieces of the Lightroom ecosystem.

Lightroom CC on the desktop

  • HDR Merge: Create natural-looking or surreal images from extremely high-contrast scenes. Using HDR merge, you can easily combine multiple shots taken with different exposure settings into a single high dynamic range image. Click here to learn more.
  • Panorama Merge: Stitch together multiple images, including raw files, to create stunning panorama shots. Click here to learn more.
  • Performance Improvements: Get more done, faster. Lightroom takes advantage of compatible graphics processors to boost its overall speed, especially in the Develop module.
  • Facial Recognition: Easily find and organize photos of family and friends with new Facial Recognition features in Lightroom CC. Click here to learn more.
  • Advanced video slideshows: Combine still images, video and music with professional effects like pan and zoom. Click here to learn more.
  • Filter Brush: Precisely control which parts of your image are affected by the Graduated or Radial filters. Now you can use a brush to edit the filter’s mask, adding or subtracting filter effects wherever you want.

Lightroom on mobile

  • Android Tablet Support: Previously only available on Android phones, now you can sync, edit, organize and share on Android tablets as well.
  • Native DNG support on Android: Android 5.0 (aka “Lollipop”) now allows you to shoot photos in raw, and saves them as DNG files. You can now import those DNG files directly from your Android device.
  • Android SD card support: You can now specify local storage to an SD card rather than internal device storage.
  • TIFF support on iOS: If you’re creating TIFF files on your iOS device, you can now import and edit them using Lightroom.
  • Improved crop experience on iOS: We simplified the number of tiles in our crop UI so you can now easily find aspect ratios, and we added an auto-straighten function, directly leveraging the Upright technology.

Sharing and storytelling options

  • Support for more apps and devices: Lightroom is now more easily integrated with other Adobe apps like Adobe Voice and Slate on your iPad. You can also now use Lightroom on more devices, including Android tablets in addition to iOS phones, tablets and Android phones.

Complete Lightroom CC/Camera Raw FAQ

Q:  Is Lightroom still available as boxed software?

Yes, it is. However, the perpetual license doesn’t provide access to Lightroom mobile or Lightroom web.

Q: What are the minimum requirements for GPU support?

Minimum requirements are a graphics card that runs on OpenGL 3.3 and later. Please also ensure that your card is running the latest drivers. 1. why is it so comnplicated to get a trial from adobe?
other companys can givea simple link,. with adobe you have to download a cloud servie app.. create an adobe id…. 🙁

  1. i hope there is not only this 30 day sucbscription trial!!
you can stick subscription where the sun don´t shine.

      1. there still is no download link.
i don´t want to give adobe my email or make an adobe id… i get enough spam.

  2. is the resulting DNG from HDR merge or pano stitching a real RAW DNG or is it a demosaiced LINEAR DNG?

    1. They are demosaiced linear DNG, but we don’t alter the post de-mosaic data (other than linear exposure scaling) so it’s “raw” from the standpoint of editing.

  3. When I was working this morning CC told me there was an update to Lightroom. …
I started updating. It failed at 42%.
Now CC says that lightroom is update and there are no updates available. … Its version is 5.7.1

    What can I do?

      1. I downloaded the update but was unable to run the program. Your advice to quit the Creative Cloud app and sign back in again resolved the problem for me.
        Thank you!

  4. I successfully downloaded Lightroom CC with the Creative Cloud App on Mac OS X 10.10. Unfortunately, Lightroom CC crashes immidately after I try to run the programm each time. Any solutions?

      1. Markus,

I ran into the same problem yesterday on one of my two Macs. It turned out to be a licensing issue (locally cached credentials for the CC subscription). Logging out and back into your account via the CC control application resolved it.

        Roland

  5. Will the perpetual license version receive bug fix type updates? I understand if no new features. But I’d like the peace of mind knowing that bugs that crop up will be fixed and that Adobe won’t leave their PAYING customers high and dry.

    1. adobe will do everything to force you into subscription… even for the trial they force you to create a adobe id.. with no other reason than to gather emails and personal data. 🙁

  6. still no better x-trans support?
    same engine as LR 5?

seeing what other tools can do (C1 or photo ninja) LR raw engine looks a little long in the tooth.
other raw engines produce better results than lightroom.

beside speed i really hoped adobe would work on the raw engine itself.
not more mobile stuff nobody needs.

  7. I subscribe to the Photography Plan, but I want to keep using LR as a perpetual product (never installed LR from the CCPhotoplan). So I bought a LR6 perpetual upgrade. Since I have to sign into my account in order to install it, it sees that I have the subscription and won’t let me serialize it to run as LR6. It insists on running as part of the subscription.

I realize the programs are identical for now, but I want to maintain my perpetual license which doesn’t require the constant activation checks. Is there anyway to use this license that I have paid for?

      1. Thanks Jeffrey. I uninstalled LR6, then reinstalled and tried this, but I can’t install the download as a trial. As soon as I sign in to my account, it sees my subscription and says that I already have a valid license. So I have no opportunity to put in my serial number.

          1. Excuse me? I have to quit my CC membership to use a perpetual version of Lightroom? Are you serious?

          2. Yes. If you have a membership, that takes precedence over serialization when you sign in. If you ever quit your membership, you will be able to license with a serial # license.

          3. I’m trying to stay classy here, but you’re telling me I’d have to quit my Photoshop Photography Program membership and incur cancellation charges to properly install a program that I purchased from your own website — with no warning of a drawback like this.

I’m required to subscribe if I want to stay current with PS, but I was hoping to at least remain relatively untethered with LR on my laptop. With every release, my frustration with Adobe grows.

          4. Hi Rick, it’s not something most customers do. You can work offline for over 3 months at a time. I can do a return for your Lightroom 6 or cancel your membership without penalty, whichever is preferable.

          5. Hi Jeff, Please refund my LR6 purchase. I have a couple of other questions:
            1. Is the activation of LR6 (perpetual) a one time activation, or does it keep checking in with Adobe like the subscription?
            2. I assume that I could open a second account and buy the LR6? Why the suggestion to cancel my CC subscription?

          6. Hi Rick,

            1) Once activated, it doesn’t need to go online
            2) Question 1: Yes. You could simply make another Adobe ID account without a membership to activate with a serial # on a different system where you’re running a membership. Question 2: Figured you didn’t want to pay for something twice if you decided to keep the LR Perpetual.

I’ll send you an email about the refund.

          7. Jeffrey, how do you know when you’ve Serialized it? I tried doing that today and I still have the CC icon up next to my Help button. I would like to uninstall my Lr6 because my edited photos are dull and darker. Just awful. Why did that happen? Why is this so complicated?

        1. If you have a subscription tied to your Adobe ID and it takes precedence over serialization, Adobe should not let you purchase the perpetual version then. I guess the solution is to have different Adobe IDs for each computer?

          1. Jeff, LR 6 has only been out for a couple of days now. Do you really know what “most” people are going to do?

I’ve been using LR since the original beta and intend to maintain my perpetual license — despite the redundancy with my CC membership. Many people on other forums have the same intention.
But Adobe has made an assumption in the new licensing software that shuts us out. It’s reminiscent of the changes to printing in PS CS3 that left Windows users scrambling around, wasting time, money, ink and paper.

It would be VERY helpful to prominently post an explanation of this issue, solutions that are currently available and hopefully the intention to fix the problem.

  8. I have been trying since this morning to download and install LR CC, but have never been able to get further than 42% before the installation fails. The More Info link yields an empty webpage with no additional information. The webpage offering installation troubleshooting assistance does not list the error code (21) that I’ve been getting all morning (and, now, afternoon). And I’ve tried quitting Creating Cloud and restarting it (recommended on some forums) but to no avail. Is this completely due to a bandwidth issue on Adobe’s side, or is there something I can try that might allow me to install LR CC?

    Thank you.

  9. Hi!

I like that Lr now supports faces; will the Aperture to Lightroom import option now be able to bring faces over? I am sitting on 10,000 face tagged image and don’t fancy doing it again 😉

    Cheers

  10. I don’t see LR6 on my CC list. I signed out and signed back in and it’s not on my list. I’m on Mac Yosemite 10.10.2. Any ideas?

  11. I would like to point out one thing, for now. I am an Aperture user who has had to switch to LR and now on LRCC. I love editing in LR. And I am getting used to the filing handling and its not that bad. One feature I am sure Aperture users I am sure would like is this. When I color tag an image or star rate an image that is shows up as such no matter what. Whey do I need to click on a pic to see if the red frame (which is worthless, bridge does a better job at this) around a picture. I spend countless amounts of time going to a picture asking did I select that one then having to click on it to find out. In Aperture if you star or color tag a picture its always there and clear to the user. What difference does it make (stole that from Hillary) if the film strip isn’t in a filter mode and all the images show up as stared or color tagged. If I want to see the color tagged red or yellow only pictures then I can use the filter. This is probably the most frustrating issue with switching… Not to say I don’t have a few more. Contact me if you want. I’d live to explain.

  12. Via KelbyOne, B&H Photo is offering for a limited time a year of CC PS+LR for $99.00. I currently am on the monthly plan at $9.99 each month. If I buy the B&H offering, how will that integrate with my current monthly plan?

    1. I don’t believe that will work as you have the Photoshop Photography Program (which is a different product grandfathered in with more services/storage than the current Creative Cloud Photography Plan). Differences between Photoshop Single app, Photoshop Photography Plan and Creative Cloud Photography Programs: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/differences-photoshop-creative-cloud-photography.html

If you want to cancel your Photoshop Photography Plan, and switch to the CC Photography Plan, let me know and I can arrange it.

  13. Hello, well done you at Adobe for this new Lightroom !
I have a problem with my ATI Fire Pro 4400 graphic cards : LR CC says there is a problem and ithat GPU accelaration was disabled. When I look at “System”, it says OpenGL failed. My ard run OpenGL 6+ and the last drivers from ATI. So wha is the problem : is this graphic card not supported ?
    Thank you !

    1. We run a test on the card on start up to test whether it can do the computations we need. If it fails, we disable it. Cards older than 2-3 years old fall into this case a lot. (looks like the 4400 is 5 years old at least)

  14. Many huge, interesting improvements! Good work team Lightroom! Can’t wait to try out the new features.
That said, I don’t like the way you seem to be trying to hide the standalone option. I think you would have gained more respect and goodwill if you presented them as two equally visible options, while maintaining the stance that you think users will like the extra functionality of having CC.

  15. LR 6 is now crippled by Adobe when providing no future updates on functionallity. LR 5 did. Of course a deliberate move from Adobe.

I do not need PS, and will not pay subscription for something I do not use. I will stick with LR5 and use my upgrade budget to buy the perfectly clear plugin – or perfect photo suite.

    1. That isn’t correct. Lightroom 6 will continue to receive updates, bug fixes, new camera and lens profiles. Nothing has changed over Lightroom 5

  16. I am a CC subscriber and downloaded the new Lightroom CC. It will not open!!! Try’s but then nothing. My laptop is Mac 10.10.1
Anyone experiencing this? I have contacted Adobe but have received no support.

    1. Open your Creative Cloud App. Click on the Gear and select Preferences. Select Sign Out. Sign back in. Lightroom should open normally.

  17. After converting a catalog from LR5.7./64Bit I can’t see the pictures in development mode. Everything else works fine. Has anyone else the same problem?

      1. I’m having the same issue. I have a blue screen with a big x from corners to corners

  18. Hi Jeffrey,

I was looking forward to seeing performance improvements, instead LR CC takes about 5 times longer to generate smart previews than LR 5, so 500 photos import takes almost 1 hour instead of 10 minutes. And since LR 5 does not and will not support Olympus E-M5 Mark II I’m stuck with two options: either use LR 5 and spend time spoofing EXIF data to make it look like the photos came from old E-M5 or use LR CC and spend much longer time on smart previews generation. Is there a reason for such a huge speed loss?

    Thanks,
    Peter

    1. Peter,

Do you have the GPU enabled in Preferences>Performance? If so, and you disable it, does your Smart Preview Generation time change?

      1. Rikk,

GPU setting doesn’t affect previews generation speed. The only things it affects are in Develop module.

          1. I just tested on my system.
10 Canon 7D Raw Images with average file size 20MB.

Lightroom 5 – time to build 10 Smart Previews 6.3 Seconds
Lightroom 6 – time to build 10 Smart Previews 5.9 Seconds

That is within the margin of my stopwatch error with my left hand. At this point we would have to look at your OS/System specs.

          2. Since I didn’t see a lot of reports about this issue it was clear that it must be hardware related one way or another.

I would be happy to provide any details and test more if anyone on LR dev team is willing to look into it.

    2. So, I did some extra testing. I used two environments:
      – PC Win 8.1, i7 4 cores/8 threads processor, 16GB memory, SSD
      – MacAir OSX 10.9, i7 2 cores/4 threads processor, 8GB memory, SSD

In both tests I used 100 Panasonic RAW (RW2) files which I was importing into a new empty catalog.

      The results are:
      – PC:
      * LR5 – ~2 minutes;
      * LRCC – ~10 minutes;

      – Mac
      * LR5 – ~2 minutes;
      * LRCC – ~5 minutes.

Interesting fact is that LR5 shows the count of files which were already processed by Smart Preview builder. With that you can easily notice that it increments by 7 on the PC and by 3 on the Mac. In LRCC there is no count, so it’s hard to say what is happening except that it is slower. As you can see, 7 and 3 are numbers of threads processor supports minus one, which makes me think that in LR5 there are multiple threads running the Smart Previews generator, while in LRCC there is only one. Considering an overhead for the multithreading it makes perfect sense that with 8 threads the process is about 5 times faster and with 4 threads – about 2.5 times.

All that said, I wish there was an option to enable multithreading for this process. For now I might stick to not generating Smart Previews on import and build them later when I’m away from the computer.

  19. Hi all, I am a CC subscriber and downloaded the new Lightroom CC but when it opened i don’t see any of my pictures.

How can I link ti to my catalog without having to import all photos again?

    Thanks

    1. File > Open Catalog… and navigate to your current catalog where ever it is stored on your hard drive.

Lightroom will need to update that catalog to Version 6/CC format in order to use it in the new version of Lightroom. It does so by making a copy and then upgrading that copy.

  20. I am very disappointed to see that the Book Module has not been updated in version 6. Adobe continues offering a book module that can only be used with Blurb. This is like restricting printing to a single print service.
It would be very simple to add basic flexibility for defining book page sizes and custom layouts, at least as already offered in the print module.
Is Abobe’s relationship with Blurb more important than Abobe’s customers?
Why not add basic flexibility to the book module in a new 6.1 release?

  21. I had purchased LR5, and Nik plugins, before I joined the photography program (9.99/mo). I received a prompt that a new version was available and when I clicked on it was given the option to buy. After signing in, going to my account, selecting desktop, I found a download button, not upgrade or update. My questions are: 1) am I in the right place, and should I backup my catalog before I download? 2) if in future I discontinue the subscription what happens to my LR and plugins? 3) presuming I stick with the subscription, what happens if I don’t upgrade from LR5? Thanks for your time

    1. If you are a subscriber in the Photography Program you are in the wrong place. You want to download Lightroom 6 via the Adobe Creative Cloud App. It is part of your subscription and no additional charge. If you download from the Full/Upgrade location, you will be paying for Lightroom 6 as a stand-alone program (like your original Lightroom 5).

If you discontinue subscription, your Lightroom 5 purchased earlier will till work and your plugins will remain but the work you’ve done in Lightroom 6/CC will not be transferable back to 5 (the catalogs are not backward compatible)

Upgrading on the Subscription is up to you. You are not forced to upgrade just because you are on the subscription. You can continue to run 5 until you want to install 6. You can actually have both versions on your system using the subscription.

  22. I originally purchased and used the stand alone desktop version of LR, but then last year sometime I subscribed to the photographers package. I always used the desktop version and received the update info each time there was a new one, however I don’t seem able to upgrade to LR 6 it only allows me to update to 5.7. I tried instead to use the CC version but it only loads up the splash screen and then nothing happens. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the CC Updater, as well as signing out and back in, I even tried deleting the stand alone version but all to no avail, can you advise please as I can’t seem to find any info online about this kind of error.

    Thanks

  23. Lightroom cc crashes after 5-10minutes of working in the software. My computer is fine
    osx 10..5
    proces2.93Ghz intel core 2 duo
    memory 8gb 1067 MHz DDR3

  24. Got a license question (which got no answer on user forums): AFAIK the license for LR6 (perpetual) allows installation on two computers as long as only one is used at a time. Can those two installs be on different operating systems?

This used to work with LR5, but not sure now since all appears to go via your cloud licensing mechanism regardless.

  25. I have a perpetual license of LR 5.7 and am being prompted to update. When I follow the update link it take me to the Creative Cloud page and there is no update option that I can find. Will LR 5.7 be supported if I am not a Cloud user?

  26. I am glad to see the improvements under the hood. I see value in the Panorama / HDR new feature,

    but ….

    Book Module.
Still stuck with a crippled template module. Should, at a minimum, be able to place images and text were we wish on a page and easily adjust templates. The Book module will remained unused and unloved. I will set my alarm clock for two years time and see if this gets any improvement in Lr 7.

I have adapted Microsoft MailMerge with Word and Publisher to provide totally automated and professionally formatted images with text, which I can create PDFs for cirulation or html pages for web postings. So sad that I cannot do this inside the Adobe family. I have InDesign, but that requires that I create large numbers of intermediate files and requires a major overhaul regarding usability. I use InDesign as a last resort.

    Mark Images As Final.
This is a top ten request. Very simple to implement. Would provide major benefits. 4 years on the requested list. What is the point in posting to such a forum.

    Metadata on Lightroom Mobile.
Ability to be able to edit metadata on Lightroom for Ipad, especially Title, Caption, Copyright, Location, Comment. I would use a mobile device to review and present images, plus maintain metadata. I have no interest in using un-calibrated small screen devices for editing.

  27. Installed the trial for CC to Windows Desktop and in Help it says I am CC Version 2015, so I guess I have the new version? Here is the question. When I import, I see most last two shoots dated more recent than 4-19-2105 but when I exit and restart Lightroom, all downloads after 4-19 go back away without a trace when looking in Library mode.

Just for fun, if I click on Import Photos and Videos, I see my newer folders yet again and actually ADDed them manually as a workaround. But somehow I am doing something wrong when I first upload the photos. Can you help tell me what I am doing wrong?

Also is it still possible to purchase the Kelby/B+H combo for $99? Thanks so much, Jeff

    1. Is it possible you opened a different catalog? Check your File>Open Recent… to see if you have more than one catalog in recent use.

  28. Why can,t I update our CC Cloud on the computers in the Photography Lab (6 total) to Lightroom 6. All I get when I try to download the updates is your sales pages. We already use CC Cloud.

    1. Go to the Creative Cloud application and download Lightroom CC from there – unless you are a Creative Cloud Team account or enterprise customer, then you’d need to talk to your Team or IT administrator to make sure the update has been released or deployed.

  29. I am not able to update to Lightroom CC (Lightroom 6). I have signed out and signed back into adobe creative cloud several times and the update still doesn’t appear. The app page says Lightroom 5 with a green check mark and then up to date. I have the monthly subscription.

  30. Hi, I have CC photography program and it appears I can’t upgrade to Lightroom CC as my windows laptop is only 32 bit. I have no intention of upgrading my computer at this time so does this mean having a subscription is a waste of money as I will never be able to upgrade my adobe products? Never be able to use the Mobile service on my tablet as my android is not compatible with LR5? I chose the subscription service for the upgrades and the first major upgrade is a bust!

    1. Hi Karen,

You are still able to work with Lightroom 5 on your system until you’re able to upgrade the computer to 64bit hardware. We currently have Lightroom mobile for Android phones and are working on tablet support for the future. You can sync to Lightroom mobile using Lightroom 5 as well.

More info on our architecture changes announcement last January: https://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2015/01/update-on-os-support-for-next-version-of-lightroom.html?PID=6149335

  31. my Lightroom cc develop module will not show the picture. It has a blue screen with a white X. I uninstalled and reinstalled. This did not help. I tried changing color management settings. This did not help. What am I missing? Any help would be appriciated.
    Thank you

    1. I would suspect an old/bad video driver.

First, update your video drivers. Determine what video card you have and go *directly to the manufacturers website (nVidia or ATI/AMD)* and download the latest driver.

Just doing Windows Update won’t give you the latest and greatest drivers. You must go directly to your card manufacturers website to check for driver updates.

If that doesn’t solve it, go to the Preferences in Lightroom and uncheck “Use Graphics Processor” under the Performance tab. https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-gpu-faq.html

  32. The recent update of LR CC and LR6.0 to 2015..0.1 or 6.01 to fix the LR CC 2015/LR 6.0 Help access problem did not work. I have 2 instances of the CC version on two computers using one Adobe ID and a standalone version on a third computer that runs LR6 using a different Adobe ID. The 2015.0.1 update fixed the problem on one of the CC computers but not on the other. The 6.01 update for the Standalone version didn’t work either. When LR Help is selected, the versions where the update didn’t work continue to go to an Adobe website that won’t load. I’m told Adobe set up the original 2015/6.0 program to direct users to an internal company URL that is not publicly accessible. When I use SysInfo to check the version numbers, all 3 show the latest update. I downloaded the hotpatch from the Adobe download site and ran it. Tried 3 different browsers as default browser. Neither of these solutions helped. Others on the LR Community Forum have had the same problem after the 2015.0.1/6.01 update. Adobe Chat and Phone support did not find a solution. Is Adobe aware of this issue, and will a real fix be made available?

  33. I’m confused because I already own Lightroom 5 on a mac and have been offered an upgrade. Once it was downloaded, I realised that there were 2 Lightroom apps in my doc and then realised there was a 2nd copy because instead of updating my already existing copy of Lightroom, I got the new version’s 30 day free trial. I bought my copy of Lightroom nearly 2 years ago and wonder if I’ve run out of free updates or something? Does anyone know?

    Thanks!

    1. Your copy of Lightroom 5.x will upgrade as far as 5.7.1. Beyond that, you would need to either purchase an upgrade to Lightroom 6.0 or subscribe to Lightroom CC.

  34. Is the video export in the trial version crippled in some way, or are there more options somewhere? All I see are four presets to choose from.

I have LR CC trial with 21 days left but noticed when previewing, playing or exporting slideshows the quality setting makes no visible difference, plus the exported files are the same sizes.

I’m choosing the 720p option (optimized for YouTube) and a 2:48 video with music comes out 150.2mb. I had a service make me a similar video (also “for YouTube”), 2:48 with music and it’s only 49.5mb. It’s H.264, FPS 29.99, data rate 2.47, 44k stereo. All three versions of LR video are AVC, FPS 29.97, all data rates over 7.00, 48k stereo. How can I change that?

I took the music file out and it’s now 151.2mb, QuickTime Player still reports 48k stereo. No sound plays.

  35. I am disappointed that in it’s 6 major version, Lightroom preview generation performance is still so poor. My RAW cache is on a Samsung 850 Pro SSD. My library and preview cache is on another Samsung 850 Pro SSD. I have 12GB of memory of which Lightroom only uses about 6GB during preview generation. My library is striped across a pair of 4GB WD Black drives. Yet with all that, generating previews for my libray on my six core CPU (i7-980X) only averages around 30% CPU across all cores, with both SSDs sitting around 0-2% (spiking to 4% every now and again) and the pair of HDDs hosting the library sit at 2-4% (with the occasional spike to 15%). My OS is Windows 8.1 x64 with all latest patches. Why is Lightroom not pegging my CPU at 100% during preview generation? I’m generating 1:1 previews, high quality, 2560 pixels across.

  36. LR 5.7.1 on iMac running 10.10.2 has suddenly quit showing any tools in Develop mode – there is also “Sync with Lighroom mobile” in upper left corner. I have not requested to use and have no plans to use either LR mobile or CC, but now LR Develop mode doesn’t function.

  37. LR 5.7.1 on my iMac 10.10.2 has suddenly quit showing any tool in Develop mode. There is as the new appearance of a synch/sign in arrow for LR mobile: I did not request and have no intent of using either Creative Cloud or mobile versions, but now my program won’t develop. To my knowledge I didn’t install anything new, and I use this iMac only for photography.

  38. Hi!
I am a cc monthly member & I loaded LR successfully onto my iPhone, went right in and even had all of my presets! I just recently changed to an android phone, went to load LR and when I go into the program it looks completely different. I have no library, develop module, etc. I just get brought to a screen about auto syncing my Samsung photos. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance!

    1. There are several splash screens to read when you launch Lightroom the first time on your Android device. Usually, you just swipe through to clear them. If it isn’t working for you, can you get us a screen shot of what you are seeing so we can advise you?

  39. With the new update has resubmitted a problem with the 16-bit TIFF file that was on the old versions of LR, when you try to change the parameters, there is one click and the picture is reloaded, also suddenly parameters are reset to zero and sometimes you set the camera calibration processing in 2003.
Working in this way is difficult, the work is not fluid, I am again using the old version until the problem is resolved.

      1. After several tests, it seems that the problem occurs when a file is imported to a change in an external plugin, in my case, Nik Software, occurs with the full range of plug-and not only in 16-bit tiff but also exporting in jpg . This does not happen with the version of LR5. Once the file has been treated is difficult to make further changes, as I said to every movement of the cursor to the file is reloaded for about 1 or 2 seconds and sometimes suddenly all changes are reset and automatically set the change version LR 2003 .
I hope you can solve the problem thanks

  40. Could you publish the minimum specification for video card memory under OS X? Or direct me to where I may find it?

  41. Overall I am very happy with the update. One concern I have, and it may be leftover from a previous version, is that even though I chose to generate Smart Previews for all files, not all files have them. Pretty minor issue, but I find it frustrating if I don’t have image available to me in the field.

I love being able to edit masks and I may even start making panoramas again. In the next version I would love import presets!

  42. Three questions:
    1. LR 5.7.1, said it was time to update, followed the link and now have LR CC. Is this what was intended? Has the Photography Program morphed to CC?
    2. When I insert a memory card from my camera, LR auto starts 5.7.1, not 6.0 (maybe it’s 6.01, ‘about’ doesn’t say) How do I get it to start LR 6, not 5.7.1?
    3. Sometime after a case where 5.7.1 started, I made some changes to the directory structure in 5.7.1. These changes are not reflected in the LR 6.0/CC instance. How do I fix this?

    1. 1. Unfortunate wording. The Update should be Upgrade. You can pay to update to Lightroom 6 or subscribe to CC2015. There is no update beyond 5.7.1
      2. You need to check your OS settings to make sure they are launching LR 6.x on card detection and if a Windows machine you may need to do this as well: http://www.lightroomforums.net/showthread.php?25139-Lightroom-CC-import
      3. You will need to go to Lightroom 6 and use the Folder panel and reconnect the folders appropriately using the [Right Click on missing Folder] and choosing Update Folder Location…

  43. I’ve read through pages and pages of blog posts, so if I missed this answer, please forgive me.

I’m a digital tech, and I work with several different photographers. Some of whom bought Lightroom 5, and do not have creative cloud.
I had to pick up a new Macbook Pro today, and I’m configuring and installing all my needed programs.
With the update to Lightroom CC, I don’t see an option to install Lightroom 5, which I have, through the subscription, on my previous Macbook.
This is turning into an issue for me.

Is there a way to install and run Lightroom 5, as well as Lightroom CC, under the Creative Cloud subscription?
