Lightroom CC 2015.5 and Lightroom 6.5 are now available on Adobe.com. Our focus with this release was to add support for new cameras and lenses, and also fix many bugs that existed in previous versions of Lightroom.
Thank you for all your feedback and passion for Lightroom.
Bugs Fixed in Lightroom CC 2015.5 / 6.5
- Bug fixes related to Panorama Merge
- Scared that pesky sensor dust spots will ruin your perfect pano? No problem, remove spots in 1 image, sync the spot removal to the other photos, and then merge to pano. Lightroom takes care of the rest.
- Boundary Warp gets better as we fixed a bunch of bugs
- Removed the ‘auto’ projection option. Turns out, it always picked the same projection mode.
- Other Bug Fixes
- Rename failed if raw+jpeg pairs were copied to a second location
- Shooting tethered, shutter button will not move to top of the screen
- The video cache was not correctly limited to the size set in Preferences
- Photomerge fails with virtual copies
- Impromptu slideshow gave error message “video support is disabled”
- Import didn’t work if you weren’t signed in
- Certain dates couldn’t be entered in Edit Capture Time dialog (1966, 1969, 1999, etc.)
- Videos wouldn’t play on some systems
- Slideshow module wouldn’t work on some systems
- Fixed a ton of sync errors. Faster sync to the Lightroom iOS and Android apps
- Scrolling through images in Loupe view with your mouse is back! (sorry that it went away in the first place)
- Slideshows are back in high-resolution. Fixed a bug that caused them to appear much lower res than expected
- Books are made for browsing. We’ve reinstated scroll bars so that you can browse faster in the Book module
- Incorrect value for EXIF:ColorSpace in exported TIFFs
- After export shortcut CTRL+ALT+S not working in Develop
- Crashes when tethered to Canon cameras (5dm3, 5ds, 1dsm3)
- SDK broken edit_field’s validate function, disabling existing plugins
- Months in non-English configurations show in English
- Secondary Window blocks mouse clicks even when closed after switching desktop spaces
- Can’t import DNG files from Parrot Bebop drone
- Watermark loses setting after Edit dialog opened

Samyang profiles please!!!!!!
Hi. Which lenses?
We have added many profiles for Samyang in the last two releases and more are planned. Note that these lenses are generally manual/non-CPU so you must manually select “Samyang” in the lens Make and select specific profiles from the Profile list.
Samyang 8mm f3.5 is not listed
And Samyang 12mm please.
Was excited but shouldn’t have been. Slideshow export to video now black. The update hurts, wish you tried a bit harder. Worked fine yesterday before updating.
Hi,
can you explain the problem a bit more, is the Lightroom becoming non responsive and turning black or the video being exported is black, are you facing this in Win or Mac ??
Hi,
After installing the update I cannot open LR anymore: user permissions issues.
LR cannot auto fix the issue. Followed link to support doc, but all permissions are read/write on the folders mentioned.
Gr.
Roy
When you follow the KB doc to correct the permission issue manually, please make sure that you follow Apple’s help doc https://support.apple.com/kb/PH21997?locale=en_US&viewlocale=en_US to make sure you correct the permission on the folders AND all their enclosed items folders.
What. The. Hell. Adobe? This doesn’t work! Same issue as Roy, and no amount of following the KB fixes this.
Roy – Note that I had the same issue with Lightroom (the other CC updates today worked fine). Following Simon’s instructions to correct the permission to ALL subfolders in the three noted folders solved my issue and LR is working.
Same exact thing here too Roy. I uninstalled then reinstalled Lightroom and it worked fine until I downloaded the update again, now same user permissions message again before it quits.
I’m still totally stuck without lightroom support for my a6300, user permissions crash still won’t go away even though I’ve tried all the different posted solutions, still not working.
I had the same issues – gave up and restored my old version. The link below looks good so will have another go later. Frustrating!
Hopping we get Samsung Galaxy S7 support soon
Please add the lens profile for the 2 Tamron new lenses, SP 90mm F2.8 Marco DI VC (model F017) and the 85mm F1.8. Thank you.
Hi Edmond. These lenses didn’t make the cutoff for this release, but we are working on getting them into a future release. Thanks for your patience.
Text Overlay and PNG Watermark in Diasow is still not working correct if you export a show into an mp4 file. Booth have white borders or halos. I have phoned nearly 1 hour with the support last year and at the end of the call they said the problem is known. They have to work with 3rd Party Players. This was last summer and the problem is still there. But in LR5 the Problem was not???????? Every Update i hope and hope and hope…..
Please add lens profiles for Voigtlander 90mm f3.5 F mount for Nikon cameras
Thank you
Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro DX II is wrongly recognized as Sony SAL20F28 in Lightroom and ACR
Sony a77m2
After installing the update I cannot open LR anymore: user permissions issues…please fix it..
Lightroom 6.5 appears to include a bug fix that isn’t listed in these release notes.
Lightroom 6.4 introduced a bug where if you opened the Export dialog box and edited the selected watermark, the Watermark menu would forget the selected watermark and none would be applied. The workaround was to make sure you re-select the watermark before clicking Export.
https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/watermark-on-export-issue
I tried this in Lightroom 6.5 and it seems to be fixed. If the team has any additional comments on whether this really is fixed or why it wasn’t documented, please add to this comment. And if that bug is really fixed…thanks!
In my experience with Adobe’s updates, there are a lot more fixes than they state … but hey, at least they do give a changelog :-). But don’t be surprised if as by magic some other things start work after an update, for example they keep tweaking ‘auto tone’ which was completely broken after the PV2012 change. I’m sure they’ll keep tuning pano & hdr as the initial versions were ‘proof of concept’ in comparison to the seasoned stand-along competition like Autopano and Photomatrix.
Can you provide some debugging information for LightroomCC?
The process never starts up after I click on it. I don’t have the problem with PhotoshopCC.
I’ve followed every suggestion on Adobe’s site to try and fix the problem, including running CreativeCloud cleaner but no dice.
Does LR CC write to a log somewhere, where I can get a clue as to why it won’t start?
Update: Jeff Tranberry of Adobe answered my question in the comments at the link I posted above, and the watermark fix has been added to this document. Thanks Jeff!
I”m sorry, my reply was supposed to go under my comment above. It wasn’t a reply to your comment, Ramon.
My changes in lightroom is not exporting to photoshop!!
Please, make tethering capturing possible again with new iOS El captitan. So many pro photographers change to Aperture. Is that what you want. Don’t make LR to impressive. Keep it basic and stable. Don’t make new options as long you didn’t solve old issues.
The latest version of Lightroom (2015.4 or later) supports tethering on El Capitan.
Awesome, please add profile for Rokinon 12mm F2.0 NCS CS RK12M-E
It should be there in LR 6.5/2015.5 and ACR 9.5. Because the lens is fully manual/non-CPU you must manually select “Rokinon” as the lens Make and locate the profile from the list. If you don’t see it or there is a specific mount you are looking for, please let us know.
Thanks!
“Nikon AF-S Zoom-NIKKOR 28-70mm f/2.8D IF-ED”
Oh! it comes at last.
Beware of this update: it rendered my Lightroom CC disfunctional !
User rights violation, try to fix, no result. Lightroom closes.
Bummers.
There seems to be an OpenGL-Problem at least with the Mac version. See the strange behavior I get, if I leave OpenGL acitivated on my 2011 iMac:
https://youtu.be/CrDCUxGT1oE
No problems like that at all with former versions of Lightroom CC
BTW: I can’t reach Adobes Forums as soon as I logged in – always getting an “too many redirections error”! That’s bad! 🙁
I got a friend who is using a MacBook without OpenGL-Support (Intel HD 3000) and he got the same issue. Seems like it’s not OpenGL, that causes that problem.
I have same problem…
Hi André, I am using an iMac12,2 27 Mid 2011 running 10.11.3 and I am experiencing the same issue, plus other display issues while amending sharpening, cropping. Difficult to explain. I have now unticked the “Use Graphics Processor” option and things appear to work more “smoothly”.
I’ve been thinking about looking to restore to a previous version but I am happy how Lightroom now works on my iMac so will leave it as is.
Exactly the same problem with the sliding cursor
Does anyone know how to downgrade to 6.5?
Still no Pentax Q 08 lens?
Using sliders in Development view while Use Graphics Processor is turned on is acting weird. The preview image flickers and acts inconsistently. After turning Use Graphics Processor off changing the sliders act as expected, but more slowly, so it’s not convenient.
Using Early 2011 MacBook Pro 15 inch with AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1 GB (2,3 GHz Core i7, 16 Gt RAM, 500 GB SSD + 750 GB HDD) as well as external display HP E241i (24 inch 1920 x 1200).
I am seeing the exact same behavior after updating. Similar hardware config. Turning off GPU resolves the problem even if it a bit less snappy than before (thank you!)
I have this same issue. Flickering previews as you adjust sliders or try to crop.
Rokinon lenses would be a nice addition. Yes we can cheat and use other brand names but still…
Hi. We have added several Rokinon lens profiles over the last couple of releases, and will be working on more in future releases. Because the lenses are generally non-CPU type, you will need to manually select “Rokinon” as the lens Make in the profile tab to find them.
Wish you would add support for full XMP metadata support for filter and smart Objects other than “all searchable” … When will Adobe support their own format to full extend?
Cant find any way to make a smart Collection that use i.e. “Location” tags …
Can’t Call it a complete system when it doesn’t support basic XMP tags …
Performed update and now can not open Lightroom on my Mac …. Be carful !
The last three versions of Lightroom brought many bugs to Windows 10 at least for me. The application stops responding at various, reproducible times and calling tech support has been a complete waste of time. I’m hoping this fixes my fundamental problems but I’m not holding my breath.
I
Strange behavior in lens proifle when using “TAMRON SP 150-600mm F5-6.3 Di VC USD A011N”. Results shows banding in gradients such as in sky. Better quality when use in “A011E”.
Are you seeing the banding with certain focal lengths, or all?
If you would like to supply me with some sample images to investigate, please post a link (DropBox or similar) here or send it to me at ccastleb@adobe.com.
Thanks!
Congrats for learning a lesson and working on stability and bugs for dot releases! But to join in, on my x-mas wishlist, there’s a) better noise reduction (the one reason to use DxO: their ‘PRIME’), b) smarter sharpening (the one reason to use PS (for me): Smart Sharpen)….
What about improvements for XTrans processing?
You promised to do this in corporation with Fujifilm.
Kind regards,
Andreas
I tried every solution to fix user permission issue and it don’t works ! It’s a shame to provide such a version !
I also have problems with User Permissions after installing the latest update. The information sheet provided by Adobe seems totally useless because I can’t understand what to do. How can I change on folders when I can’t open the program?
The information may be meaningful to computer programers but what about the rest of us!
Problem was corrupted files. Solved by a very helpful Adobe Chat tech!
Since installing the latest update I am having problems with the shadow and highlight sliders – screen flickers and renders poorly !
2013 iMac
My images, after being exported into a .jpg format, are losing the local adjustments that were made in Lightroom. No radial filters or brush adjustments are shown in the exported images.
The images have been imported from a Nikon D3200-shooting in RAW. The files are imported with the file type .nef. I have tried converting to DNG, making edits, and then exporting to .jpeg (or .tiff) & still, no adjustments are showing.
No lens data displayed for Nikon D7200, D800. Understand a fix is on the way, will there also be a specified procedure to bring missing display up to date or must we go back and reload?
The majority of lens profiles has disappeared! I cannot work properly with my voigtlander lenses anymore
Has the permissions been fixed yet? I updated, could not use 6.5 and had to revert to 6.4. Can this be fixed for those who have paid money for the right use LR?
Should be coming very soon.
At least provide the lens profiles for the FujiFilm X-mount kit lenses.
Also, can you make the link to update Lightroom 6 (the non-CC product) a little easier to find? On my Mac the “update” feature under the Help menu keeps redirecting me to the Lightroom CC update, so I have to search for the update directly on your website. I know you want us to switch to your CC products, but that ain’t gonna happen for me.
What a POS! Piss poor performance…worse with every release. Stacking no longer works after importing files; have to close Lightroom and restart.
Adobe needs to focus on fixing bugs and improving PERFORMANCE…not feature-itis!
Can you provide step by step instructions for this behavior? I am not able to duplicate what you are seeing. Please provide some details about your System and OS. Thanks.
I have read that there were (..ARE) issues with Lightroom 6.5… however, I didn’t thought that it is still not fixed…
It seems like that besides Microsoft & Apple (iOS 9.3 issue) Adobe jumps on the “same train”: releasing “clumsy” updates which do not help, they annoy people…
1. I have updated my Lightroom 6.5 and had the permission issue…
2. I have followed the instruction with permissions…
3. I have restarted the computer (Mac) to get active the permissions…
4. I have de- and reinstalled Lightroom…
All the mentioned points above DID NOT WORKED OUT, still have the issue… !!!
I have reinstalled Lightroom 6.0 and updated to 6.4… and as I did not found any official statement from Adobe, I think they don’t care about that problem… I’m deeply disappointed…
I have done the upgrade to the last CC 2015.5. Since then, all my lenses are listed as Unknown Lenses…
After the update – when I use the sliders in each block – for example exposure – the photo doesn’t adjust smoothly – it is overexposed or underexposed before come back to the adjusted value – witch make the process very difficult. The same situation with any adjustment slider – like clarity or transformations.
who has the same problems?
Me! 🙁
Try disabling the GPU acceleration. Worked for me
Marcin, if disabling the GPU switch in Preferences>Performance cures the problem double check to make sure your video software is up-to-date with your card’s manufacturer.
The update starts, but it comes always to an error:
ERROR: DS015: Unable to read symlink target of source file “/Applications/Adobe Lightroom/Adobe Lightroom.app/Contents/Helpers/DynamicLinkMediaServer/application/dynamiclinkmediaserver.app/Contents/amecommand.app/Contents/Dictionaries”(Seq 30)
What is going on here?
Take a look at your install log and see if this help document applies: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-exit-6-exit-7.html
Is there an update for NON-CLOUD Lightroom that will work with Nikon D500 NEF files?
I see there is one for the CC version but it doesn’t work with my non-cloud version. Truly a bummer to have a new camera that I can’t use.
http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2013/06/keeping-lightroom-up-to-date.html#lrcc2015
Download 6.5 or 6.5.1 from the web link above and install it. You should also be able to go to Help>Updates… and get your 6.x version of Lightroom to update.
Hi Are you sure? I have recently bought retail (BOX non CC) Lightroom 6 and Adobe support tells me I can not update to 6.5.1 as it will convert my subscription to CC version. Which is something which I do not want as I want to stay with my BOX license.
Yes. Any version of 6.x is eligible to upgrade to 6.5.1. It does not convert your Boxed version to CC to upgrade.
Hi, Thanks. Looks promissing. I will test it. How can i check which version 6.x or CC i have on my PC?
Go to Help>System Info… and it will reveal your Lightroom version number. (Alternately, it appears on the Lightroom Splash Screen at Launch – but it goes by quickly)
Ok, Thanks. So after update. I see Lightroom version: 6.5.1 [ 1073342 ] which I guess is BOX version, Thx.
Yep, that is the boxed version number upgraded to the latest. You are golden!
Thx. for your support! Not it is time to learn how to use it :).
Just upgraded from 2015.4.x to 2015.5.1
I’m having issues with Photo Merge Panorama. I was going to redo some panoramas that I had created with the previous version and try out the Boundary Warp on them. Unfortunately, this new version of this feature will not create the panoramic image with any of the projection options, giving me the message “Unable to merge the photos. Not enough matching photos for merging.” Funny how it had enough matching photos prior to the upgrade! Same two photos – two hours earlier. I fear that removing the Automatic Projection box may have something to do with it, as in the past, if it failed to merge by selecting the projections manually, it would often work by selecting the automatic option. The photos that I am attempting to merge are scans of 35mm color slides, The original photos were taken together with the same camera, lens, and focal length, and scanned with the same settings with the same settings on an Epson Perfection V550 Photo scanner. Any thoughts?
Running this version: Lightroom version: CC 2015.5.1
1- slow loading of the pics (same library as before);
2- when viewing a pic in the library and hit the develop panel, it shows another image from a different collection;
3- it came back to show the right pic after 4 minutes.
Greetings Melanie,
That is not typical behavior. Slow moving Lightroom (when it was working quickly before) is usually do to a Preference/Installation issue. If you have restarted Lightroom with no improvement, and then restarted your computer with no improvement try the following steps.
1. Make sure all Operating System updates are installed – including Video Drivers (you may need to get the most current from the video card manufacturers website)
2. Reset your preferences file by closing Lightroom, holding down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while relaunching Lightroom, and overwriting the preferences when prompted.
3. If that doesn’t improve speed, the next step is to perform a backup of your catalog, an uninstall of Lightroom, and a reinstall of Lightroom via the Creative Cloud app.
Without more information about your hardware/OS it is hard to give you any further steps. Try that and let us know if the situation improves.
Please add Lens Support for Canon EF 70-200 F/4 IS USM with 2x Extender. Thanks!
Hello, I upgraded today from Lightroom 5 to 6.0 with a licence purchased on Internet. I downloaded 6.0 version from your download website and I put my licence numbers for 6.0 and I installed it. After, I used the update module to go to 6.5.1 and to my surprise I have now an evaluation version for Lightroom CC for 30 days. I don’t want Lightroom CC, I just want 6.5.1 because I got a new camera and I need the camera raw module into 6.5.1. What will happen after 30 days? I don’t understand the way it goes for this upgrade. Is it possible to get Lightroom 6.5.1 without CC??. Thanks for your answer.
With a new Lightroom installation, you receive a 30 day trial to the features available in the Creative Cloud license. At the end of thirty days (because you have already entered your serial number) it should revert to normal behavior. If not, follow the steps listed here: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/serialize-lightroom-cc-trial-to-activate-as-lightroom-6.html
Thanks. I’ll wait and see.
In Develop Module, the “previous” button (the one that allows me to use the same settings as the previous image worked on, seems to have disappeared. Any suggestion where I might find it again? That was a most useful button. Also, the button that says “finished” is missing..
Windows 20, Intel I-7
Thank you.
In my post above, I should have said the “Done” button is missing (not finished). So accustomed to just doing it, I don’t remember the nomenclature..
The button normally is there with a single image selected. It disappears when you select more than one image. Is it possible you have more than one image selected?
The other button appears in the tool bar which can be turned on or off with the [ T ]
Are we supposed to use the “New” button, instead of “done?”
How can I go back to previous version? This is a step backward for me.
When are you going to support the native RAW files (PEF) from the camera Pentax K-3 II?
Its anoying that Lightroom can not open the PEF files from Pentax !
Thank you!
