  1. Lightroom 6.2.1: Wacom Intous pen lag when pushing sliders

it ́s next to unusable.. i have installed the latest wacom drivers (WacomTablet_6.3.15-1.exe).

there is, i would say, a 1-2 second lag from when i press down until the slider moves.

    win10 64 bit, i7 2600k, 24gb ram, 980 gtx, catalog and caches on intel 750 SSD.

gpu is disabled, add photo dialog is disabled.

and of course….latest gpu drivers are installed.

i tried the older driver version “WacomTablet_6.3.13w3.exe” too.

    same behavior….

corel painter, photoshop and other apps work just fine.

the SYNCHRONIZE BUG is NOT fixed with this hotfix.

    1. I am using a Canon 5DsR and also finding a delay when slider settings move. Very annoying and not very impressed after having to purchase version 6 so I could download RAW files from the camera.

    2. Is Adobe going to fix Lightroom and make it faster? I’ve got the currently fastest iMac that’s out there with maxed ram and Lightroom runs extremely slow!!!! Each update I hope the speed will be fixed, but it isn’t happening. It’s so bad that I’m starting to try alternatives. Hope you respond with some hope in sight.

    3. I also experience the same behavior with my Wacom Intuos. Sliders work fine when using the regular mouse but it’s so slow when using the tablet.

    1. I have this issue for years. In Photoshop and ACR sliders work perfectly well, but in Lightroom and only in Lightroom I have to ignore this feature at all.

  2. Thanks for the update and fixes. At the same time, count me among those who do not like the changes that took features away from the import functionality. I understand your desire to simplify the import dialogue. However, to reduce the functionality for power users seems like a mistake. Perhaps a better approach would have been to allow power users the option to revert to the previous structure, or some modified structure that provided the full feature set. That some of us may see the need to import duplicate photos, to move rather than copy or add, and to see a detailed view in order to assess images prior to import seems rather obvious. I can understand deciding not to add features because of cost and time, but to remove them makes little sense? I just don’t get it. If this is what you mean by continuous improvement, then I am very disappointed.

    1. I ABSOLUTELY AGREE with Mark. We now have Lightroom for DUMMIES! You’ve taken away the functionality of IMPORT and now it is worthless. Whoever designed and whoever authorized this should be sent to TimeOut.

Give us some kind of an option to have the older, and superior, import dialog back.

      1. Agree 100%. To make matters worse, the new Import hangs and crashes. When it does import, it hasn’t successfully converted my .NEF files to .DNG, either. This was a very useful feature until this release, now, a disaster. Please allow a “classic” option! And fix the bugs, This is an embarrassment.

        1. Justice,

The newer import dialogs in CC2015/6 don’t do the DNG conversion until after the import. It happens as one of the background processes like building Previews/Smart Previews. If you successfully import and then wait, do you see the DNG conversion eventually occur?

          1. I agree absolutely this dumbing down is bad for users and bad for Adobe. If LR users wanted a dumbed down product they would use Apple Photos. LR picked up a lot of users when Apple closed down Aperture and now it is going down the same road. When LR is down to the level of Photos they will suddenly wake up to the fact that they have no users left. Utterly absurd. Someone at Adobe should be held to account for this SNAFU. If I was a shareholder I would be mad as hell at someone damaging a valuable product and its reputation like this.

        2. I’m sure enough has been said about the changes in the latest update to the import interface. Apart from all the issues everyone else has stated, when I do eventually get my files to load after all the crashes and restarts, it has taken about 10-15mins for 40 odd images to appear in the library?? And I’m merely ADDING them to lightroom, not even moving, copying, etc. When they do finally appear, I’m greeted with the delightful surprise in not being able to use any of the functions/sliders in the develop module. It’s been 3 days now and all I’ve been able to get out of Lightroom CC is the ability to view my images after multiple frustrating attempts. Somebody please sort this out or at least revert to the previous version as I’m ready to ditch Lightroom.

FYI, It can’t be my laptop as I’m using the latest 15″ Retina MBP with all the upgrades available and if it worked fine with the previous version it obviously not my laptop that’s the issue. And no, I have yet to upgrade to El Capitan so don’t blame the OS.

          1. I’m glad to see I am not the only one with these issues. I thought it was something I was doing wrong. I have the same MacBook and it is my first one. I cant believe how terrible light room is performing. just zooming into the photo takes almost an entire minute. Hope something is fixed soon. I am going to have to revert back to my PC with the un-updated lightroom to edit these 840 soccer photos.

    2. We all agree. The import module is now really poor. it’s not just about interface, it’s all about lost functionalities. Pleas consider these posts Adobe and don’t waste time. And than sorry, the day you’ll decide to reintroduce old defringing methods…i (we?) would be very happy!

    3. Total agreement here. Give me back the original import UI and capabilities. Soon.
Adobe seems to start shifting towards targeting amateurs or occasional photographers over professionals or enthusiasts who want to be able to control software to suit their optimal workflow. This might gain them some users, which they obviously dearly think they need to do, but only for a short while. Dumbing down until LR is nothing more than for example Apple Photo will eventually kill the product.
I am a software engineer myself and removing features in new releases is a definitive suicidal thing to do for any company. Users WILL be annoyed and some WILL move to other products. You might offer a setting to “dumb down” (NOT “show advanced”) an UI in newer versions, but that is it.
Photo Mechanic does things way better than LR, and now even more so, without adding anything but simply because LR has degraded. If this continues I will seriously start to consider other options from other vendors.
P.S. Looking at my text before posting I realized that it may look like a rant, but it is not; it is a heartfelt reaction to the realization that Adobe might be changing its attitudes and starting to break down something I have always used and liked very much. It might be the first indication that there will come a moment to say goodbye to LR.

    1. For some reason the playboys at the factory are playing games….why don’t they send an information sheet showing the new updates….I would not have updated to 6.2 if I had know they had screwed up the Import structure…What a screw up that is.

    1. Why do you think that they “owe” you a tool that’s only available for CC customers?

    2. You get nothing in the Lr 6 standalone version….I mean nothing….Maybe in Lr 7 you just might, I say might see DeHaze….who cares, you can do the same thing in PS….

  3. Users who wish to continue to employee features and capabilities found in prior versions of the Import dialog should avoid this update.

      1. Actually, you do. I rolled back to 6.1.1, and even though I get the little pop-up saying “There’s an update for Lightroom CC (2015)”, I blissfully ignore it.

  4. I try to select Help > Updates to use the update mechanism in the Creative Cloud app …
    Nothing happens 🙂
    What am I doing wrong?

  5. This update fixed nothing! Lightroom CC is still crashing upon start up. I cannot access my catalog at all.

    1. Hi Juan,

can you tell us more about your system? What OS are you on?

      Thanks
      Sharad

      1. El Capitan
Late 2011 15″MacBook Pro 16GB RAM, 2 SSD’s, main drive is 512 GB and I have a Samsung EVO 1TB in optical bay.

        1. Also, 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 with AMD Radeon HD 6750M and Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB.

      2. I had to roll back to CC 2015.1.1 to access my catalog again. This is unacceptable.

    2. Lightroom update to El Captain works fine on my MacBook Pro Retina but will not open on my Mac Pro desktop. Opens for a s;pit second then crashes. Dead in the water on my main system. Nice! Thankfully Aperture is still in backup mode for me.

  6. The new Import is TERRIBLE! Very CONFUSING! If you (Adobe) think it’s better, then I’d like to know what u have been drinking. At a minimum, make the new Import an Option or make the former Import an Option.
And, if you want to really fix the Import, allow the user (that’s me) the ability to name the 2nd Copy the same name as primary copy and to place the 2nd copy in the Folder of MY choice, such as the same Folder Name as the Primary copy/.

    1. I ABSOLUTELY AGREE with David. We now have Lightroom for DUMMIES! You’ve taken away the functionality of IMPORT and now it is worthless. Whoever designed and whoever authorized this should be sent to TimeOut.

Give us some kind of an option to have the older, and superior, import dialog back.

  7. My question: Can you offer the bug fixes and support for new cameras as a separate update –WITHOUT the “revamped” import system?

  9. New update still doesn’t work allow GPU accelerate to be enabled with an AMD Fury card with the latest AMD 15.9.1 beta drivers.

One of LR most lauded features and it’s fundamentally broken.

      1. Hi

In the develop module for example trying to rotate an image just switches to a blank blue graphic with crosses through it. Disable GPU acceraltion and instantly works fine.

Clean 8.1 PC, latest CC update and the latest AMD beta drivers. My previous card 7970 worked although found better consistent performance with GPU acceleration disabled.

I’ll report the issue as advised as well.

        Thanks.

      2. Sorry Jeffrey will have to post it here not having much luck on the report a problem page.

GPU accelerate enabled does not work with an AMD Fury card in the latest build of LR CC 2015.2.1, AMD beta driver 15.9.1 and Windows 8.1. I get a blue image with a cross through where the photo should be inside of the develop module, disable the GPU option and instantly the blue cross image disappears, i get the photo back and LR behaves as it should do.

  10. How do I regain the import functionality that was deleted? Without this, I don’t want to update to a less capable version. Who would?

    1. I agree with you 100%….how do they get off just changing stuff like that…We are the ones paying for this stuff….looks like they would treat us like customers instead of subjects…

  11. “This update provides a performance fix related to Import and also fixes crashing bugs identifying in the Lightroom CC 2015.2 / Lightroom 6.2 release.” NO!! Still the same problem!

(This update fixed nothing! Lightroom CC is still crashing upon start up. I cannot access my catalog at all.)

    1. Can you tell us more about your environment? Are you on Mac or PC? Which OS?

      Thanks
      Sharad

  12. THE NEW IMPORT DIALOG BOX IS AWFUL. PLEASE GIVE THE OPTION TO TURN ON THE “CLASSIC” INTERFACE.

    1. Thanks for the feedback. Do you have specific features that you’re looking for first? Or is it the UI that you don’t like? We’re looking into how we can improve the Import dialog so any feedback is helpful.

      Thanks
      Sharad

      1. With all due respect … you should have ‘looked into’ the matter BEFORE you began creating these ‘improvements’ …

      2. To answer the question; put all the functions you removed back into whatever UI you want. I think that you’re missing the point. No one is looking at the new UI as much as looking for their tools. There is a difference between; how you use a tool, and not having it anymore. I just started with the subscription, and to date, I don’t see any value in it. I’m just glad that I wasn’t around when this release was announced, and didn’t install this. So, simply, return the tools we need in import. If you can’t do that within days, revert everyone back to the “good” release. It should be very obvious by now, what need to be corrected.

You had a storm of concerns when you made everyone go to a subscription. And now you gave everyone a good reason for all those concerns. Pro’s don’t have time for consumer software. We need our tools and knowledge that things get better, not just removed.

Really now, did you really have to ask what features your paying customers wanted?

      3. The way to improve the import dialog??? That’s easy. See Version 6.1. It will show you an interface which works and works well.

      4. I don’t think many people would object to an improvement of the UI: I know I don’t. But many of us have come to rely on import features that you’ve removed for some reason. I don’t think you’ll be free of this furor until you restore all of those features. You could do this in conjunction with the new UI — you could let us enable these features if we need them. You could leave the simplistic “Add Photos” screen (we can disable it, after all) for the newbies and let the rest of use make the import as feature rich as we need to.

Everyone who has commented on the changes to Import has come to terms with the process in their own way — obviously in ways that the LR team did not realize, or even intend. Which is why I suggested that you restore ALL of the removed features.
For me, the features I miss the most are:
        1. The directory tree and the associated previews
        2. The file name previews
        3. EJECT AFTER IMPORT (I have no idea why this was causing anyone any problems)

    2. I ABSOLUTELY AGREE with Jonathan. We now have Lightroom for DUMMIES! You’ve taken away the functionality of IMPORT and now it is worthless. Whoever designed and whoever authorized this should be sent to TimeOut.

Give us some kind of an option to have the older, and superior, import dialog back.

There’s an old adage, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Well, then geniuses at Adobe have really messed this one up!!!!

  13. Re the above “Please select Help > Updates to use the update mechanism in the Creative Cloud app.” You must have a different version to my latest on the Mac as I can not find it in my CC app
Help just brings up a web page that has to be signed into again & I can not see any menu as stated

  14. So this will be a rare positive comment on here, but this update has solved all performance issues for me. I have GPU acceleration enabled and Lightroom is way, way faster than I have ever seen before, and stable. I’ve been editing for a good couple of hours now with no issues whatsoever.

I will say the new Import dialog is awful though, please change it back ASAP. I understand the reason for the change are to help new users, but as an experience LR user, I found the new dialog extremely confusing when it appeared in front of me a couple of days ago. Please look after your existing customers. We all had to use how to use this software at some point, new users just have to go through that process like everyone else.

  15. So, I was suckered in again with version 6.2.1 Surely after the disaster that was Lightroom 6.2 ADOBE would have sorted it out. No, more fool me for thinking so. ADOBE Lightroom version 6.2.1 still crashes with alarming frequency and is practically unusable. I have revert to 6.2 again.

What a sham ADOBE can’t get it right. How the mighty have fallen….

  16. I don’t want to go through the process of upgrading to 6.2.1 and then back to 6.1.1 again, so I ask: have these been resolved?

In the Print Module, when attempting to Print To File…, I would have to do it TWICE for it to take. This affected 6.1.1 after upgrading to El Capitan

When batch renaming files (F2), LR 6.2 would crash midway leaving all my files in shambles (including metadata!)

I didn’t even get a chance to try out the import dialog that everyone has been up in arms about because 6.2 was SOOOO unstable. As long as you didnt take away any functionality, I’m sure it’s just something we’ll get used to, though it does look more like something that belongs in PS Element..

I have LR6 standalone and think it was a poor decision to omit functionality (dehaze) to LR6 standalone users. As if I didn’t pay for my standalone license? I would have preferred Adobe not release an LR6 standalone in the first place if they are going to segregate us into 1st and 2nd class users.

btw, I’m not liking the new splash screen…

  17. My bugs still remain as well. I cannot open any catalogs from an external drive; 2015.2.1 crashes every time (using El Capitan). Also, when I do have a catalog open from my main drive and quite the app, it either takes forever or requires a Force Quit. Crash reports for all these occasions (both in 2015.2.0 and 2015.2.1) have been submitted.

  18. OK so you’ve improved the Import setup. What about those people (maybe only a few) who have swallowed Adobe’s predeliction/support for DNG. Can somebody please tell me how to “Copy to DNG” when I import images from my SD card. I switched to DNG files about three years ago in the belief that I would get constant support from Adobe – In previous versions of Lightroom I was able to “Copy to DNG” as a part of the Import process. I now have to search through “Advanced” options to find what was available as a basic option.
I’m all for making LR accessible to more people but why do it at the expense of those who’ve been with you since Raw Shooter Essentials never mind LR1
We do exist and we are still loyal.
    Paul Watson

  19. Aside from the import dialog and other issues, my main complaint is that Lightroom is not exporting images! As you can imagine, this is a major problem. I appreciate your looking into it.
    ** Mac Pro Late 2013, 3.5 Ghz – 6-Core Intel Xeon E5, 32 GB RAM, AMD FirePro D500 3072 MB graphics

      1. Hi Rikk,
I’m running Yosemite 10.10.5. I just uninstalled and reinstalled lightroom and it still won’t export multiple images. Is there a way to roll back to a previous version?

  20. Installed the update, tried to import some images and got the spinning ball of death. Had to force quit the app and now it won’t open – even after a system restart.

Time machine here I come. 🙁

  21. Please return the previous Import features, especially the ability to double click on a thumbnail and preview it before importing.
I too would like the option to Not eject after import. I don’t import all the images all at once, I sometimes shoot from several locations in one day, so I would like to do several imports without having to reinstall the SD card.

  22. I do hope some or all of the old import abilities can be added.
Particularly worrying for me is the lack of detailed view of the folder hierarchy of the destination disk.
My workflow requires me to keep different actual files in different locations on different volumes; and not being able to see where things are going and navigate around easily is very annoying indeed.

Good to have move back too, as it saves the effort of going back and deleting things after using “copy”

  23. When Lightroom 6.2.1 closes it leaves lightroom.exe running and will not launch until I go into task manager to stop the process. Windows 7. Also, plugins from Perfect Photo Suite 9.5 no longer work.

    1. Neil, what was the last Lightroom version where your onOne plugins worked correctly? Is Lightroom 6.2.1 the first version where they did not work correctly?

      1. Hi Rick,

It is a problem with the closing quote on the line “$$$/PerfectPhotoSuite/TypeLabel=Type” in the TranslatedStrings_en.txt file in each of the plugin directories. The quote used is a ” – Hex 201D (used as a closing quote in word processors).

If it is changed to ” – Hex 0022 (normal quote, like from the keyboard) the will load and work fine.

Note that this changed with the upgrade to v6.2

        1. Thanks so much!! This really worked. Does the ON1 team have this fix?

What about the first part of my comment, Lightroom leaves a lightroom.exe process running when it is closed. I still need to close it manually before I can re-launch Lightroom.

          1. For anybody interested, the following solved my shut down/re-launch problem (not sure why, but it just worked)
            Go to Lightroom > Preferences.
            ◾Click on the General tab
            ◾Uncheck “Show ‘Add Photos’ Screen”
            ◾Restart Lightroom

          2. I believe ON1 have a solution, quote from them 12 hours ago:
“We’ve actually identified the problem and have already started working on implementing a fix. Thanks! “

          3. The relaunch problem is strictly Lightroom, not ON1. It is associated with “Import”.

    2. In Windows 7 Lightroom 6.2.1 Import causes Lightroom to leave an exe around after closing and therefore prohibits re-launch of Lightroom until it is deleted in Task Manager. Unchecking ” Show ADD Photos Screen” in preferences does not solve this.

  24. My Macbook had a “meltdown” with 6.2 and 6.2.1. Now I’m back to 6.1 When U fix the problem: PLEASE GIVE THE OPTION TO TURN ON THE “CLASSIC” IMPORT INTERFACE. PLEASE. Ive been using Lightroom since 1.0, and love it. You guys ROCK.

  25. With the initial release I spent 2 1/2 hours on line and on the phone with an Adobe help line person working on my computer – unsuccessfully – he reverted me to Lightroom 5 (with my consent) I am running Windows 10.
The new update suffered almost as bad performance issues as the initial one. I did what Adobe suggest and in Preferences unchecked all the boxes in the Import Photos and restarted Lightroom – this seemed to fix all the Library and Develop performance issues (and my Wacom tablet works fine) You do need to be patient with the Import screen as it seems to need to get to know your Computer and file structure and can cause Lightroom to be unresponsive for a few minutes.
Conclusion – Adobe still have a way to go with Windows 10 Users, but it is able to be worked around for now, and the DeHaze options are NICE!.

  26. I PROFOUNDLY DO NOT LIKE THE IMPORT DIALOG…HOW CAN I GET BACK TO THE OLD VERSION FO IMPORT???? THANK YOU…AND NEXT TIME PLEASE ADVISE BEFORE MAKING A CHANGE LIKE THIS….NOT ONLY IS IT CONFUSING…IT IS TIME CONSUMING…PLEASE..NEXT TIME LET US DECIDE WHAT IS TO BE CHANGED…NOT SOME TECHNICIAN OUT THERE IN HOLLYWOOD LAND…YOU MUST UNDERSTAND, YOU DON’T SPEAK FOR EVERYONE…
Now I am ok with Wacom and the sliders…everything ok….

  27. Prior to the latest version, there were relatively few complaints about import. Many complaints about “lost images”,”computer crushed(sic)”, other things typical of the teen age user with little interest in digital processing and insatiable interest in social exchanges. It is obvious the most complaints DID NOT bear on importation, as you claim.

Perhaps this latest version would be better named “LIGHTROOM FOR HIGH SCHOOL.”

I think you hope that fad users, such as these teenagers, may be enticed to join the cloud rather than rather than to use PHOTOS.APP from APPLE or other such software.

  28. How can I roll back from LR 6.2.1 to LR 1.1.1?
It’s sad, I used to trust Adobe to make improvements with each new update, but this one is a disaster. The import screen is awful. I know that I will need to find a replacement for Lightroom as Adobe moves us all to Adobe CC (Cash Cow) but I guess that I will have to find it sooner because they are making LR worse not better.

    1. Opps! I meant roll back from LR 6.2.1 to LR 6.1.1! I don’t want to go back to the beginning!

    2. I figured the roll back out. For anyone looking for the way home to a fully functional Lightroom, it involves uninstalling LR 6.2.1 completely and reinstalling LR 6.0 from scratch (https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-downloads.html) and then updating back to 6.1.1 – windows (http://swupdl.adobe.com/updates/oobe/aam20/win/AdobeLightroom-6.0/6.1.1/setup.zip) or mac (http://swupdl.adobe.com/updates/oobe/aam20/mac/AdobeLightroom-6.0/6.1.1/setup.dmg)

A pain but recoverable. Lesson learned? Trust lost is regained slowly.

  29. Using Windows 10. Just “upgraded” my Lightroom from v6.2 to v6.2.1 Both versions 6.2 and 6.2.1 have the same problem for me. Lr starts up and runs fine for me the 1st time. However, if I shutdown Lr and then try to restart it, it does NOT start. I have waited and waited but no restart. I have found in Task Manager that Lr is open as a background process but not an active app. If I try to open Lr again, it starts another background process but still the app does not start. In Task Manager if I end all Lr background processes (tasks) then Lr will start.
A little more info…. when Lr is stuck I see that the first Lr background process is using 0% CPU, 339.8 MB memory, 0 MB/s Disk and 0 Mbps Network. The 2nd Lr background process uses 0%, 6.9 MB, 0 MB/s, 0 Mbps.

Why can’t I restart Lr normally?

    1. I would try a two-step approach here, MEH_PDX.

      1. Reset your preferences file by closing Lightroom (and killing the background task in Task Manager). Hold down [Alt]+[Shift] and launch Lightroom. Overwrite/Trash the preferences when prompted.
      and if that doesn’t fix…

      2. Uninstall your Lightroom 6.x/CC2015.x and then reinstall it from a fresh download here: http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2013/06/keeping-lightroom-up-to-date.html#lrcc2015 – then repeat step one.

After this, does your background task still appear after closing?

  30. I updated my Lightroom CC and now it won’t launch … Uninstalled it and it won’t re-install … What’s happening?

  31. Not sure who your marketing research people are, but coming from someone who works in that industry, they did a poor job. You guys need to roll the import feature back to the previous one, figure out a way to correctly add ALL of the features to the new import, and release it when it is ready. As of now you are blatantly ignoring the loyal users who have been using Lightroom from the begining. Do you guys understand correct GUI development? We ourselves are undergoing a GUI change, and are offering BOTH GUIs so that the users can transition. It feels like your research was done poorly and hastily, and that is not a software company I want to do business with.

As of now, I am trying out CaptureOne to see how viable it is for a switch over. You want to save at least one customer, bring back the previous import quickly. I am fed up with this poor customer support.

  32. I have a suggestion:
Bring back the old way of importing photos, for the professional and advanced users/hobbyists (yep that’s me)
and if you are truly committed to bring Lightroom functionality to “the masses” or “the Facebook crowd”,
why don’t release a Lightroom Elements with a simplified UI and a lesser feature set for those who don’t care *that* much for Digital asset management and RAW, a simpler and easier Lightroom for those who don’t take photos as a profession or for the love of photography.
Don’t think of Lightroom as too daunting to the average joe, keep thinking of it as a tool for those who need/want a really hardcore professional tool.
This whole “import UI/Tools issue” is not a technical issue it’s a decision about what you want Lightroom to be, and right now, it’s heading the wrong way, don’t simplify it and don’t make it less feature rich, and don’t go around braking the workflow for Your customers just for the sake of making it “easier to use” we don’t need that.

  33. No update available here. Yes have signed out and back in again. Yes have quit and restarted the CC app.
    Mac, El Capitan. LR 2015.2

    1. Bernard, I had one MBPr that wouldn’t go from 2015.2.0 to 2015.2.1 Signing out/in and restaring CC app didn’t do anything. Ultimately, I had to uninstall Lightroom CC2015.2 via the CC App and then reinstall it again via the CC App. It worked perfectly then. I don’t have an answer yet on why as other machines picked up the update but it will get you going at least.

  34. Please return the old import window before changing it to something completely new.
I am still building up my new image library (currently 152.000+ images out of 300.000+).
When importing I use folders a lot, because I used a lot of different camera’s over the years.
Browsing for those folders is possible, but subfolders I can’t browse for (?) anymore. In the old version I had drives, folders and subfolders to choose from.

Keywords are also not visible anymore. Sometimes you need that list to see what’s there. Now I have to exit the import window to look what I have or guess?

These two options: drives & folders and keywords visible are so important for me and many other people.
Without those I can’t work with Lightroom as I used too. I will keep working with 6.1 until they are back.
I am VERY sorry to write this. Change is good, but please, don’t take away the tools we really need.

P.S. Lightroom crashes every time I browse for a folder for import. 6.1 is stable, fast and working.

  35. “Perhaps this latest version would be better named “LIGHTROOM FOR HIGH SCHOOL.””
Oh, yes indeed. The best comment here. Adobe managed to turn an outstanding photography application for professionals into a childlike interface for the iphone. What were you guys thinking? How can the removal of professional tools and the addition of an idiotic interface—which does nothing but crash!—be an improvement?
And I’m paying nearly $80 a month for this?
    No longer.

  36. At least the constant crashes that I had with the initial 2015.2 seem to be fixed (OS X 10.11). BUT the “auto tone adjust” bug on import is still not fixed. With “auto tone adjust” all imported images get an exposure of -5.

Regarding the new import dialog. Awful UI that doesn’t fit into Lightroom. Why remove working features? Why not just hide them by default for new users? If you want to create a simple “one-click” UI for the “selfie” kind of people please create Lightroom Elements but don’t change a professional tool.

  37. After the update I now get the screen with the eyes and info and then with in a few seconds Lightroom crashes and so i now completely unusable

  38. I would like to add my experience to this thread too.

On my iMac with El Capitan everything, including lightroom 2015.1, is in perfect condition. Or what I do is without problems.

    Regards Lars

  39. Rolled back to Lightroom 2015.0, Photoshop 2015.0, Bridge 6.0 and lastly Camera Raw 9.0 and all is well again. GPU supported again and back to normal import dialog. I don’t think I will be updating anytime soon.
So now we’re paying for broken updates and stripped (dumbed down) features? not a good move guys!
    Move forwards, not backwards.

  40. I just updated last night to 6.2.1 I uploaded some photos I took yesterday and I could see the photos, but as they uploaded they turned black. When the upload was complete, they stayed black. I tried going to the develop mode and they’re still black. What do I need to do to get them to change back so I can edit them? First time ever having an issue with an update.

  41. Just installed LR CC 2015.2.1: still freezing as soon as entering develop modus!
Had no problems until LR CC 2014. Freezing started with LR CC 2015.0, had at least three months without LR CC working (but paying my abo regularly every month). Then freezing bug was fixed with LR CC 2015.1/LR 6.1, LR worked fluently – and now LR CC 2015.2: freezing returned. Hoped so much von LR CC 2015.2.1, but nothing improved: LR freezing my pc every time. I am really angry with Adobe! I never worked with such a software, and such a company, which wants to be the leader of the market, and is annoying its customers so much. How can you bring such an uncomplete software to the market???

    1. Ralph, if I understand correctly

2015.0.x – Freezes going to Develop
      2015.1.x – Didn’t freeze going to Develop
2015.2.x – Freezes when going to develop again

      Do I have that correct?

If you go to Preferences>Performance and disable GPU does the freezing stop or continue in 2015.2.x?

      1. Hi Rikk, yes, that’s correct.
Freezing continues though GPU disabled, mobile sync disabled, face recognition disabled.

  42. I had a problem with the new panorama just drawing black in 6.2. When I reported it, Adobe’s advice was to UPDATE my OS (I am on Mac OS X 10.9)… Huh?!? (Something about graphics drivers updates, but I had GPU acceleration off (and on), so I don’t think this would have made a difference in any case). Then someone chimed in and said they had the same problem on Windows! So that was a problem (and a pretty poor support problem too)

Then, I looked at the Import pane – I am speechless at how much was taken away, how dysfunctional the interface, at least for me, is now. So, I’m just adding my vote here: unfortunately Adobe, your updates can no longer be trusted, and if you have critical workflows with Adobe products (well, LR specifically) then, really don’t update. It looks like I’ll be on 6.1.1 for a while, maybe until I find another product to use if they won’t go back to supporting their existing (and presumably professional) user base.

  43. There is a lot of discussion of the lousy new import feature and a big loss of trust in Adobe. What happened to the careful Beta process of the past? The 6.2.1 update feels slower all round, and broke some of my favorite plugins, including Perfect Photo Suite 9. It also didn’t bring 6.2.1 up-to-date with the current CC version (e.g., no dehaze filter). I know that CC subscribers feel entitled to receive more in their updates than traditional licensees, but this failed update and split of feature sets further erodes the trust of customers who have long been loyal LR users.

  44. Just heard 6.2.1 had come out so looked at blog to see if all resolved from 6.2. Answer no – need statement soon form Adobe that all functionality for import will be restored ASAP!!

  45. I currently have a full CC subscription. I’ve been on the fence about keeping it or migrating my workflow to alternate applications and tools. With the dumbing down, removal of functionality from the Import process you’ve made the decision easier. I’ll give it some time to see if the Import functionality is restored otherwise count me as a lost customer to your competition. At a minimum how do you not make the new Import process the default for everyone but give users a choice to use the previous process. Your lack of communication before the change and now after is appalling.

  46. What’s that? I get a new, unusable Import-Dialog in Lightroom 6.2, but no new Filters like Dehaze?
Please, if you don’t add functionality to filters in Lightroom 6 than also leave my Import-Dialog alone! You could have done this change in 6.0 – and I would not have bought the update. Or wait until 7.0 – and I would not buy that. I’m always up to something new and also new UI-Designs. But that’s the worst “improvement” to a software I have seen in years!

  47. So 6.2 was mildly inconvenient (no connection between the main grid and lower thumbnails in the Library module when selecting pics) and a slight lag on the sliders.

6.2.1 is absolutely unusable. There is a lag of several seconds after doing ANY function which makes it impossible to do anything accurately. I am on a 2012 Macbook Pro (15″).

How do I roll back to the previous update (6.2)? I can put up with those hassles. Thanks.

  48. After accepting the last upgrade offer I suddenly see that both new and old imported .jpegs are having totally black previews. They are also black when I open them in develop mode. They are suddenly at -5 exposure, so when I use “auto” for exposures they are back again. What is this??? The raw-files look OK, by they way. This happened after importing (for the first time after the upgrade) today’s shooting from an SD-card, originating from my Nikon D600, where I shoot both raw and jpeg.

  49. The new import dialogue is just terrible. It feels like a beginner option for someone who should be using iPhoto. Lightroom is a tool for professionals and experienced photographers. Making features ‘simplified’ is frustrating and a little demeaning. Those who used the old import dialog did not find it confusing, they found it empowering because they had the option do anything they needed to easily organize their photos.

The new import design takes away important features such as the ‘move’ option in file handling and wastes space by trying to find photos to import for you. I already know where the photos I’m trying to import are at, so it’s infuriating when Lightroom tries to ‘find’ them for me. All it does is find batches of photos I have already exported…useless. It also took away the structure of the destination folders!! WHY? This is incredibly important to see where my photos are going and how they are being organized.

They have also removed the handy ‘recent keyword’ and ‘popular keyword’ boxes which I used all the time. You can see all the features they took away by the painfully blank spaces on the right side of the screen.

In general, the whole import process takes more clicking, includes more dialog boxes and navigation than ever before. This ‘simplification’ has made Lightroom’s import process painfully slow and devoid of useful features that Adobe somehow deemed unnecessary.

Keep this up adobe, and I’ll go back to torrenting your software. This isn’t what I pay you for.

  50. I installed El Capitan and the update a day ago and suddenly Lightroom is crashing on my Macbook Pro but not my Windows 10 Desktop. I installed the patch that was supposed to fix the crashing and it still crashes. It was working fine until they “upgraded” and “fixed” it. Not happy Adobe. BTW the import dialog is terrible. Put it back.

  51. Installed CC 2015.2.1 but Synchronize Folder still didn’t work. I get an error message that there are no new photos. Rolled back to 2015.1 and it works fine again. Clearly this bug was not fixed.

  52. Seriously about to start shooting film again it maybe quicker. I am not sure what the hell is going on but the last two updates my system does nothing but NOT RESPOND. It takes forever and a day to import a session and when Lightroom does not crash it is slow as molasses. Can you please correct this before you are replaced by something else.

  53. I have reinstalled v6.0 which is more stable than 6.21 and has removed the import dialogue changes. Hopefully we will get some serious response by Adobe to the requests here.

  54. I absolutely hate the new import page. Where have all the functions that I use on a daily basis gone?
They were really important to my workflow.
I use Lightroom everyday as a pro photographer and it appears to have been ‘dumbed’ down to the point of being useless.
Maybe it is time to look at Capture One.

  55. I do not like not have the option to import duplicates. since I had a hard disk problem and needed to re-import photos but could not since the photos were in the catalog but missing from the hard drive I had to delete the photos first before I could re-import them

    1. It has become so clear that the developers of Lightroom never actually use Lightroom. If they did…, if they were actually photographers or enthusiasts of photography, they would understand that these so-called rarely or low use features are damn important when they are necessary.
A damn life jacket is a rarely used feature on a cruise ship, but when you need i, it had better be there or you’re dead. That’s why the Coast Guard requires them.
The various options in the old Import page served a purpose, and albeit they may have been used less frequently than say, the “Save” command, they are just as important.
Another example proving the Lightroom developers haven’t got a damn clue.

  56. Adobe Please update the import dialog so we have two choices; the now crippled “easy” and functional “advanced” option with all the choices we used to have. Come on, you taken off “remove card after importing” automation when just about every professional I know used that daily!

  57. Dear Adobe:

Do you really think that those people in your potential customer base who cannot understand the original LR Import functionality can understand any of the rest of Lightroom? Do you think they’re going to quickly acclimate to working with Tone Curves, Sharpening Radius/Detail/Masking, Lens Corrections, and Camera Calibrations if they can’t figure out how to import a photo without the new cartoon-like interface you have provided *all* of us with? Really?

Maybe the Adobe emphasis should be on Bridge and Elements for these folks, once they have graduated from Microsoft Paint. IMHO, this is a continuation of the Dumbing Down of America. Instead of suggesting people actually LEARN something new, let’s lower the bar for EVERYONE. I guess if that philosophy is good enough for Apple, it’s good enough for Adobe.

  58. The new import page, is awfull and unusable, changes my workflow drastically, please change back to the original import system… Lightroom version: CC 2015.2.1 [ 1046594 ]

  59. Oh boy, 6.21 crashed again – or better it doesn’t quit – when quitting LR (I have been in import dialog, was first asked if I want to quit import, then if I want to quit LR, then it hangs again and has to be killed hard). And 6.21 is sooo slow. Don’t know what happened.

    1. Amen. Still crashing or hanging after quitting. Have to force quit every time. I’m still using MacOS X 10.10.5 on our Macs, so this issue came up with CC 2015.2 and continues with cc 2015.2.1. It was not fixed as claimed, at least on my iMac and MacBook Pro.

  60. 6.2.1 crashes worse than 6.2. Can’t browse my images anymore without crash. The import process was a mess but could be worked around in my case. This is untolerable.

  61. I would like to know what the actual release notes are on 2015.2.1 so that I may see exactly what was corrected and what was “fixed” in import.

  62. this is a joke… a very bad…. my lr 6.2.1 on win10 is now unusable – slow, non-responsive, crashes from time-to-time… and only after having looked into the forum discovered the import rubbish. no – this is a very, very bad joke.
not asking for support as i will downgrade to previous version when I find time and then look for alternative solution for the future…

    1. I must agree as well. I was VERY shocked with the new import setup. It’s quite ridiculous, really. I spent the time to sort it out, and I still don’t like it. Rather, I actually dislike it to the extreme, such that I’d consider rethinking my DAM workflow and consider something different and just use Photoshop/ACR as my editing setup. Consider this a serious mis-step on the part of the Adobe Lightroom Dev Team.

  63. I have windows 10 and was having problems with Lightroom CC hanging then switching to not responding. I installed the latest update for Lightroom CC 2015.2.1 and it is still doing the exact same, hanging then not responding, it is completely unusable. Any suggestions please.

  64. ADOBE, PLEASE INSTRUCT US HOW TO GO BACK TO PREVIOUS VERSION! NOW!
We have clients and we have work to do. This upgrade is a mess! The new version is overall slow, slow, slow. How can we go back? Seriously! I upgraded while working on a project and the speed droped to 50%. Is unnacceptable!

      1. Thanks, jeffrey. We wait for a really update., since now, tnx to these links we can keep on working.

  65. Oh my gosh, the LR 6.2 has been a pain with its continuous crashes, but LR 6.2.1 it’s even worse!
Every time I assign the stars to the pictures, the overlay remains on the screen, and it mess up the User Interface. Then it became incredibly slow, while quite often the previews are not available. My work is really in big trouble right now. I can’t really understand what’s going on, c’mon Adobe! This is really not up to your standards.
LR 6.2.1 is worse than 6.2. I can’t work anymore.
I’m using OSX 10.11, i7 MacBook Pro 2,5Ghz mid-2014, 16GB ram and 512GB SSD drive. With this same configuration, I had lightroom 6.0-6.1 working like a charm.

  66. Help!!!! This weekend is like Dante’s Inferno with Lightroom download. I totally agree with all foregoing comments, including the nostalgic thought of the previous IMPORT functionalities. But I’m ok even with the inferior download functionality that was dropped on our laps.

I first came upon this horror when I took a few test shots with one of my new cameras, and the imported images were a total blackout. Then, I had to resort to a process of elimination to try to isolate the problem. Then, I saw the apologetic post from Adobe. But not before losing precious Sunday time to a seriously bugged import module.

It’s still not working normally. I imported test shots, and they still blacked out. But after a while, the images came up with minimal res. They were like images from aim and shoot boxes.

This is so unlike Adobe which is famous for stable and superior applications. I hope they will give us a final solution to this problem. Imports into iPhoto went swimmingly, while Adobe is still under water.

    Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  67. After implementing the ‘fix’ in 6.2.1, the problem persisted.Since there has not been a ‘fix’ to the ‘fix’, I had to manually find a workaround. Ok, the blackout continued after importing a file. The histogram is all leftmost. I had to go into the develop module and tweaked my images to bring them back to normal.

A real time cruncher. You should give us a clean, effective, and prompt fix for the problem you’ve created. Having to deal with a developer’s inept creation on a Sunday is like going to a highly anticipated football game, only to find the event has been rained out.

  68. I’d like to second most everyone in this thread: the new import dialog is awful. I’d very grateful if there were an option to go back to the old import dialog. Or if at least there was a directory tree, as the older version had.

  69. Hi!
I still have the same issue:
I can’t even click on Preferences. Lightroom displays an error message (LoadLibrary failed with error 1114).
    This doesn’t happen with 2015.1.1
(my system runs on Windows 10).

    J

  70. AWFULL.
    1) My new imported photos in Library grid are BLACK = unusable, CORRECT THE BUG, PLEASE!
    2) My new imported photos in Develope module are SKY BLUE = unusable.
    3) MOVE is missing: I ALWAYS use that function!
    4) EJECT is missing: I ALWAYS use that fucntion!
    5) Lightroom HELP: useless, doesn´t open any items
    6) Menu item “Manage my account” in HELP: nothing happens
    7) I can’t open my Adobe login page!

      1. Ref.: 2: All new imports before applying “Reset” for Autotune were blue without X. Applied “Reset” for new imported photos: blues’ in Develope module disappeared. OK. Works well. – OBS.: Your Captcha doesn’t work correct!
six – 5 = should be 1 but it was not accepted!

  71. I installed the patch, but nothing gets better, my computer still crashes and shut down if i using Lightroom or try to open NEF files in photoshop.

  72. I Have updated my Lightroom 6 to 6.2.1 and now I have the following issue:
I can’t import my photo neither from IPhone 5s (IOS 9) neither from the IMac 21,5 updated to El capitan, please help me to return to Lightroom 6.

  73. Is there anyone who has tryed to make a complete uninstallation of Lighroom the the os (Win or Mac) and reinstall 6.2.1 over CC instead of the “normal” update way? Is there any difference?
    Greg

    1. Yes! Follow the instructions at Laura Shoe’s Lightroom site (http://laurashoe.com/2015/10/06/how-to-roll-back-to-lightroom-6-1-1-or-cc-2015-1/). I completely uninstalled version 2015.2 and re-uploaded 2015.1.1. This also works for CS6 version. Don’t forget to make sure you have backed up your catalogue just in case something goes wrong. I also found a video that walked you through the instructions, watch it first (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtO3uKzMiGw). I will not upgrade again until I know Abobe has put back all the features of the import module!

  74. Same issue, export crash.
After updating from 6.2 to 6.2.1. when exporting 4 folders of photos(200 photos in each folder). will get the spinning ball and Lr Freeze.
Now have to use my LR 5 to do the exporting.
OS X EI Capitan and New Mac Pro

  75. Here’s the best idea you will hear today, this week, this year:

PUT IT BACK TO HOW IT WAS LAST WEEK.

    Thank you.

  76. I am having the same trouble as Matti T, photos I see in the grid on import but as the download finishes they are black. I have uninstalled LR CC 2015 and reinstalled and still not working.

  77. Just rolled back to 6.1.1 because of the useless import update.
If we can get that functionality back I can update again.

  78. The difficulty that I am experiencing is that I can’t export my images. I tried enabling/disabling GPS acceleration option. The images are stuck saying rendering. When I cancel the export then I get a spinning rainbow wheel and have to force quit LR. I am on LR 6.1.2. 6.1.1 works perfectly on my MBPro.

    My Mac Pro specs:

    OS X Yosemite
    10.10.5
    Mac Pro Late 2013
    3 GHz 8-core
    32 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 ECC
    AMD FirepPro D700 6144 MB

  79. I am still working with LR 5.7 — I was considering to upgrade to LR CC 6.x but after following these desastere I am so so glad, that I didn’t as of now.
What is going on at Adobe? They used to deliver the best software in the best quality. Now EVERY version of LR that was delivered lately contained major bugs. And the import is as far as I understand still very slow. I was working on about 600+ images lately. It seems to me that if I would have had only LR 6.x I would have not worked with Adobe software but rather with DxO. So what’s my point? Frankly, I would like to get a fully functional and fast version of LR to not having to change my workflow. Plus I would like to see that there is a standalone version that is upgraded as well. If necessary for a small fee per new version.
I will happily stick to my LR 5.7 and if I need to de-haze or if I need to get superior de-noising or superior lens corrections I will use DxO Optics Pro.

  80. I think there´s no need to continue punching the bag after what has been said above, it is now time to revert to the original functions we have had and were excellent

  81. LR 6.2.1 didnt make it for me – more crashes and slow as hell. I went back to 6.0 and find it much better.
The 6.2 series is somehow full of problems – what have you done? (on OS X Capitan, MBP Retina Late 2013, i7 16GB GeForce GT750M 2GB).
    Regards, Sören

  82. I was able to get around the fact that LR would hang on close in the 2015.2 CC version by unchecking the “show photos” box in preferences, but, when I installed the latest (2.1), it’s back to hanging on close. I haven’t used it any further to see if some of the other problems are fixed, but my outrage over this huge “mistake” of a release is only growing.

  83. upgraded patch – still crashes
tried suggestions here – still crashes
    big photo shoot Thursday
tried contacting support got passed around and left hanging
    really ticked off

  84. I will say that this update worked slightly better than the previous, and while the lag I was experiencing with my tablet was much less than previously, it was still present AND the application crashed the nvida driver to the point it could not recover and blue screened on me. Multiple. Times. This happened using the latest drivers for the Quadro K2100 on a laptop with Intel Core i7-4810MQ running at 2.8Ghz and 32GB of ram.

I’m sorry, but this is not acceptable at all. I have deadlines to deal with that I’m already behind on due to these last few updates making everything I was doing previously a chore and I was hoping that I’d at least have some speed back to do some minor retouches. Sadly, this is not the case as I’m having to revert this version down to one that worked in a halfway serviceable manner to finish out these projects.

  85. Similar to many others, the import dialog is 30% or less of the usefulness of the previous import options. Perhaps somewhere in the >>100++ comments above there’s some statement as to what the future may hold, but in the absence of playing treasure hunt reading through the threads for the answer, it would be helpful to know what Adobe will commit to doing. It seems like something similar to the following are possible paths. What’s up Adobe?
    1) Replace original dialog
    2) If the *new* option is remarkably more helpful for new users (really?!?), provide the option to select a preference for the original vs beginner
    3) Prod Mgmt says “No change”, users have to adapt to the new interface.
If option 3 – well, that says a lot about product development – and takes my Net Promoter Score and opinion of Adobe’s focus on the user community to a 3 (i.e. =sux)

In the meantime – as a CC holder, what are my options to downgrade?
    Sigh – what a mess.

  86. After it was good for me over two days with 2015.2.1 on w10 it starts now with Problems again. Crashes while saving catalog on program shut down. LR closing on Screen after waiting for response but stays open in Background. (Open Process in Taskmanager).
    Greg

  87. Lightroom import is pretty much worthless now!!! What were you thinking? I don’t have option to set destination, rename files on import.. This is basically iPhoto now.. Am I missing something ??? I don’t want a dialogue showing me photos from web.., I want to be able to import photos like I have for the past year or more.

I import a lot of photos from clients, this makes organization a pain instead of a pleasure.. For years I just used Photoshop since CS4, in the last couple of years I found Lightroom to be a lifesaver in photo file handling, your new import with a non-functional destination drop-down toggle the ridiculous fancy looking import screen is not what is needed. Many if not most of your Lightroom users do not want another iPhoto. We just want a no nonsense import system which was perfect until you changed it.. To be honest I am somewhat livid.. , if this is just a glitch because of El Capitan you need to let us know and reassure your users that we can go back to more of the professional power user version of photo import.

    1. Scott,

Rename is still available. If you choose Copy in File Handling, the rename function will appear under the Advanced section.

Additionally, you can turn off the initial Import View via the Preferences.

  88. Over the years Adobe has added so many great features to Lightroom. It’s too bad that we have gone backwards and lost great features with the new import window. It’s as if someone wanted to create Lightroom “Light.”
I miss the import to “recents” listing my most recent import destinations. Select A Source allowed me to import from multiple cards, auto eject is gone, even the Destination subfolders were all items that made this a professional program. Please give us our features back. Please don’t sacrifice function over form.
Sure she’s pretty, but she’s not one that I would want to spend the rest of my life with.

  89. Same experience as Greg above. Was crashing, then after uninstalling and installing the patch, It was fine for a few days. Today, it’s unstable as heck. I can launch LR (sometimes). However, switching catalogs is an instant crash upon relaunch.

I’m a professional with deadlines, and I can’t access my catalogs to edit or export. C’mon, guys.

    MBP running OS X 10.10.5. LR 2015.2.1

  90. On my System i5 8GB Windows7 64bit – lightroom CC 2015 2 uses 25% of the CPU,
although nothing is done. A restart of lightroom fixes the problem, but after a while
lightroom again uses 25% of the CPU.
That’s seems not to be a bug of Import,…
And yes, it’s not usable, bad reaction, unusable pen.
I hope you can fix this problem if it isn’t already fixed.

  91. this is so freaking unacceptable that i’ll think about changing to capture pro…..

and the support (looking to you “manuel”) is a joke….

  92. I just went to a previous days shoot to review some pictures. (7 days prior, pre 6.2.1 update)
I then watched the work I had done (cropping and Rotation) Disappear before my eyes in the grid and filmstrip views. I didn’t check any other settings but will after I have done a manual backup of the catalog.
I shut down LR6 immediately without a backup. I’m now hesitant to reopen LR6 again.
Is this caused by the update to 6.2.1? or is this an added feature to take the place of Dehaze?

  93. “Apply During Import” seems to be missing in LR CC 2015.2.1. Is this correct? If so, is there any way to roll back just the import module?

I find the new import module to be not useful and certainly not an improvement.

  94. I’m on Lightroom 2015.2.1.
I really don’t understand why the new import is introduced in the new version. It really looks foolish and meaningless.
Well, I think maybe I can finally get used to the new one. However, this thing slows down dramatically as soon as I enters Develop and is buggy as hell. The last two version makes Lightroom totally unusable.

  95. I couldn’t get past the opening screen after I did the update. Remedied that with some help from Adobe Support. But then the day after, it started to stall everytime I attempted to import new images. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Back to square one. I can’t even get past the opening screen again. Did a roll back to version 2015.1.1. As far as I can tell, I can still work on all the images I have in my current work catalog but I can’t add any new images as now the import module stalls as well even with this older version. Everything worked ok before the updates. Is a ‘fix all’ patch due anytime soon?

  96. I just can’t get the latest update LR to quit. I have to force quit every time. I have uninstalled and re-installed straight from the CC update system but nothing I do seems to clear it. Any ideas?

  97. Every time I start Lightroom 6.2.1 I get the “Sign In Required window” asking me to sign in to activate the software. Now how many times should I activate Lightroom??? never had this problem with 6.1. And I noticed that if I ignore the sign in I still can use the software.
Can you please help me resolve this annoying Sign in request.

  98. So sad to see Lightroom act like this.
Thanks to Laura Shoe for the advice not to upgrade until bugs are sorted!
    Well spotted Laura.

  99. Running Windows 8.1 Downloaded and installed Lightroom 2015.2.1 crashes after startup. Have signed out of Cloud and signed back in. Need help.

  100. Is there anyway to go back to LR 6.1.

The recent correction (6.2.1) has made LR less stable and responsive than 6.2. Before there was a lag with the sliders. Now, they move, but no adjustments take place at all, picutres become horribly distorted on their own, etc.

  101. LR 6.2.1 not batch outputting jpeg files !
I have converted the files to dng with the same
result Some files in the folder will export
    while some will not !

  102. Even after installing 2015.2.1, it continues to crash on import. The phenomenon I experience is the image turns black, I mean totally black, and the histogram swings to extreme left. Very, very frustrating. I am avoiding Lightroom and do all my editing work on Photoshop, which remains the stalwart for photographers.

Anyone else experiencing the same problem?

    André

    André

  103. I confirm that LR CC 2015.2.1 update is not fixing the crashes problem at all and what I had time to see about the new import window is a mess. Please bring back the previous import, or at least add a preference setting to choose between the old import ( pro ) and new import ( for dummies as it has already been said )
Hopefully my Time machine brought me back my LR CC 2015.1.1 which is working great!
my config: MacBookPro Retina 8GB OSX El Capitan

Wake up Adobe, you have pro users who’s business rely on your softwares!
    Kind regards

    1. It fixes the crahing problem (so far) but again I can’t quit LR without a hard kill because LR hangs when quitting… (and yes, showing add photos dialog is disabled).

And it’s a pain in the ass when adding images from several memory cards that each time I have to go to the finder to eject the cards. Dispite this I always have to search through the “import dialog” to find the proper values.

  104. There is so many issues with the latest release and el capitan, wouldn’t u pull of the update? Check ur forums!!!!

  105. Ever since the recent upgrade performance is horrible. I am trying to edit a few images shot yesterday. Import went fine (though I share above comments on the new import screen), but when editing the screen is constantly switiching to black and application stating it is not responding.
System (Windows 10) is fully up-and-running at those times and switching to other applications shows no issues with them, so really within Lightroom. I haven’t changed my system which is really good enough for Lightroom and never showed any performance issues with it at all.
Not the first since switiching to Creative Cloud. I am not impressed.

  106. The numbers of annoying bugs significantly impacting workflow is growing, it seems. I had to re-sync an entire directory of over 3500 images yesterday — it suddenly decided there was nothing there. I also can only do one import session per external hard drive as the folder structure will not be accessible in the import dialog’s source structure once I’ve completed an import session. I often import several shoots at a time and I have to quit Lightroom, which hangs after quitting, each time, and then start a new import session on another directory on that drive. I think you should give us an update that restores the pre-2.1 setup. It was much much much better than what you have brought out. the dehaze brush is nice but doesn’t make up for the bugs. Just leave it in ACR and most of us will be fine until you get this working properly and just trash the entire import dialog improvements. They aren’t really improving anything from what I can tell.

  107. LR 6.2.1 not outputting files as fast
some files end up being stuck not exporting !
    I am using a Power Mac- OS X 10.10.5 -6core w/16gigs ram
So I re-install LR 6 which has Camera Raw 9.0
now exports are super fast and all the files that were
seemingly giving trouble is exporting properly in record time

  108. So let me get this straight. You release an update that pisses off 90% of your client base in hopes of capturing new people who are too stupid to figure out the old import dialog and then in that rush to judgement you release this idiotic plan with a bunch of bugs in it. And then to make up for it, you release another version that fixes absolutely nothing. And then you pat yourself on the back for a job well done. Am I missing something?

  109. In Windows 7 Lightroom 6.2.1 Import causes Lightroom to leave an exe around after closing and therefore prohibits re-launch of Lightroom until it is deleted in Task Manager. Unchecking ” Show ADD Photos Screen” in preferences does not solve this.

    1. I am also having this issue. The process has to be manually killed off in task manager.
      Windows 7 / Lightroom 6.2.1

  110. Subsequent to my post of October 10, 2015, 06:23 a. m., I would like to know whether the freezing bug could already be fixed, or, if not, when do you expect to get this fixed? After nearly four month paying for Adobe Photography CC-abo without being able to work with it I am really considering to terminate my abo.

  111. I am having the poorest performance on a 1 year old IMac with El Capitan. It’a almost unusable since I installed the latest update. I also noticed that if I am in the Grid View, move the vertical scroll to the bottom, the image never refreshes, moving to the end of the folder or collection. The collection I really wanted to use this was 16000 images. Instead I actually had to scroll via mouse to the end of the collection, quickly click on an image to keep it at the end, because if I clicked anywhere else it sent me back to the beginning of the collection.

And of course, let’s not talk about the Import page, that was a shocker and had very odd behavior when I had a USB drive with multiple folders on it. I could not seem to upload the entire drive but had to choose individual folders. Then there is the freezing and I spend more time forcing it to quit.

Also retrieving from an external drive has become exceedingly slow.

  112. I’m using LR 6 stand alone on windows 10. It freezes up when exporting images. It happened before on my LR 5. I upgraded to LR 6. I guess this is a mistake. It was working for a while after I reinstalled the 6 version. Now it’s the same situation. Has anybody encountered the same?

  113. Lightroom CC freezes after exporting one picture (jpg) and trying to open another from library window or from folder preview in Develop window.
This started after recent update (2015.2.1 release)

Is there any fix for this one…yet?

  114. Is Lightroom CC 2015.2.1 still crashing? Is it just my computer? I start 6.2.1 and it immediately crashes; I start it again and it crashes again. I thought 6.2.1 was supposed to fix this problem. I had to downgrade to 6.1.1 to even run Lightroom.

  115. This is absolutely terrible. the update for the crash and buggy update is even worse?!? I’ve had to completely roll back my Lightroom to version 5….WTF adobe?!?

  116. Slow on OS 10.9.5. Very slow at exporting files. Develop module randomly doesn’t see photoshop edits but they appear in library module?? Import dialog confusing and so slow.

  117. I am a new user of Lightroom CC and after some research decided to keep raw files in DNG format. This worked fine for a while as I could import with a DNG conversion ‘on the fly’. With the latest version, it seems I cannot do this. Not only that, as a new user, I spent time thinking I had inadvertently picked some sort of option and spent ages trying to find what it was only to discover that this is the way it is after the latest update. Not happy.

  118. I too am finding update 2015.2.1 to be unbelievably slow. Too slow to do anything.
Using the brushes in the development module is impossible

      1. I’m going off grid shortly. Can I download the installers and run them when I am off grid?
        Matt

PS after two reboots and unplugging my external drive which contains some of the library the brushes seem to be at normal speed, but have not done anything in anger so cannot really be sure.

  119. 2015.2.1
    folder synch still not working
    It will not import subfolders.
First it will detect number of items in the subfolders for import and after clicking Synchronize it will popup msg “No photos or videos were found to import.”

  120. I work with a fairly hefty and fast PC (Intel I7, 16GB, Windows10). Last thing I’d done was importing thirty NEFs. Then didn’t use my Lightroom CC for a couple of weeks, but okayed two updates in that period.
Day before yesterday I returned, worked on some shots and exported them as jpegs. The results appeared for a split second, then changed to pure black. Nothing I could do would change that appearance, except when I opened them with software like Irfanview: then they appeared as I would have expected. Within LR CC, the jpegs remained black.
When I subsequently closed LR CC, it obviously started its weekly backup. After that, it kept four apps fidgeting in background, so that I was unable to reopen LR until I closed this rummaging via Ctrl-Alt-Del. After restarting LR an hour later, both the previously and newly exported jpegs showed as black within LR. When I closed it again, it went into backup mode AGAIN, as if it was executing a loop.
Needless to say, I gave up, much to my chagrin. I can only hope that Adobe will
    (VERY SOON!!!)
provide another update for LR CC, that returns me the perfectly functional earlier version.

  121. P.S.: for completeness’ sake I would add that I have not yet tried importing after these last “up”dates. Reading all the horror stories makes me think that it’s just as well.

  122. Hi there,
Spent a fortune on lightroom 6. It keeps crashing after importing RAW files and when I want to edit them. Problem still isn’t solved with version 6.2.1. Please solve the issues quickly, the program is almost unusable right now.

        1. Same for me here under OS El Captain.
Since I upgraded from LR 5 Desktop Version to to LR 6 CC only problems, crashes, takes aaaaaaages to export if at all, changing modules, loading any image, etc…..and after a while it simply crashes…even worse since the last update. No fun!:-(

      1. Dear Jeffrey,
as already said by Martijn Bijvoet, this does not help at all as I have this issue since I’ve purchased LR 6 CC!!!.
With my previous versions until LR 5 desktop version I did not have such problems!
        Kind regards,
        Sirpa

        1. If your issue occurs when editing your images and occurred prior to the update, I’d suspect the problem is related to the graphics card or driver. Do you have an AMD card? If so, update the driver to 15.8:
          https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-amd-graphics-cards.html

Otherwise, update your video drivers. Determine what video card you have and go *directly to the manufacturers website* and download the latest driver: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-gpu-faq.html

If that doesn’t solve it, go to the Preferences in Lightroom and uncheck “Use Graphics Processor” under the Performance tab and restart Lightroom: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-amd-graphics-cards.html

If you can’t uncheck “Use Graphics Processor” manually disable it using this method: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-gpu-faq.html#Manually%20disable%20the%20graphics%20processor

          1. Dear Jeffrey,

I’ve a ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB graphic card and it happens not only when editing, also when opening LR or just having it open doing nothing, or when exporting.

I’ve already right from the beginning unchecked “Use Graphics Processor”.

            Kind regards,
            Sirpa

          2. Jeffrey,
I have to see where to find the said driver to 15.8 for Mac, can find it only for windows yet.
            Get back to you.
            Kind regards,
            Sirpa

          3. I can’t find a new driver for my Mac Pro (2008) with OS 10.11.1 and the said graphic card ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB. 🙁

  123. Chiming in with the majority here, that entire display of loading pics from outside sources. Is a total waste and you do not need a big display for that. Please, in the future, something simple is always needed, not something big.

  124. Dear Adobe Team,

it is more than a mess to work with LR CC on my Mac. Although I have installed really up-to-date versions, it craches many times, loading each picture for editing takes ages not to peak of exporting images ….or editing images……

PLEAS let me know if it is possible to stop my CC subscription and change to LR 6 desktop version….I can’t work like this as 24 hours/day are not enough to get things done in LR now!!!!
